Justin Edwards family between 1907 and 1914

I'm looking for any info on the Justin and Etta Edwards family that settled in Blackie around 1907. They came from Iowa in 1907 with 7 children and had I think 2 more in Canada. They later moved to somewhere east of there in Alberta. Specifically looking for son Carl and the lady he married, Martha.

Thanks,
RON C

I found a Justin E. Edwards (1869-1953) and Ettie M. Edwards (1872-1955) listed in the Alberta Family Histories Society cemetery database for Queens Park Cemetery in Calgary, Section C. Their online searchable cemetery index may be accessed at:

Thanks.

Now if I could only find them between 1907-14. They came from Iowa in 1907 and next find them around Blackie in 1914. Hiding from the tax man I guess.

Thanks again.

Unfortunately, the 1911 census is very difficult to read (the ink sort of blotched on a lot of the pages) and there are, as a result, many spelling errors in the transcriptions. I would either go through the images page by page and/or try using the search engine, but with fooling around with different misspellings of the name (based on the basic shapes of letters rather than phonetics; for example, and "E" could easily look like an "F", etc.). Also check to names the "E??????" sometimes inserted by transcribers if they couldn't read the names. I have used this method to find a few of my own successfully.

You might also look into contacting the AFHS directly to see if there is more information on the headstone than what appears on their online index. The society may also have some other resources that could be checked if you submitted a query to them. If the headstone has a specific date of death, you might be able to get the Calgary Public Library or one of the archives at one of the Calgary newspapers to pull an obituary for you. You could also check the High River Times or the Okotoks Western Review.

Good luck with your search!

Thanks. Because this is for a Canadian relative, they are looking at the census so my old eyes don't have to know and E from and F.
