Hi, You are researching Doreen BROWN born in Cariboo BC
What Time frame ? When was she born.?

Does Doreen have a middle name ?

Do you know the names of Parents - siblings etc

Doreen moved to Alberta - from Victoria BC area -WHEN?

Is BROWN her maiden surname or her married surname?

If married - she may be known in Alberta by her married surname rather than her maiden name.

What research have you done - that might help others help you.

Hi Stella. Thanks for your reply. Doreen Brown was born in the Cariboo April 1926, to Gavin Alonzo Miller and Alice Emile Hance. Not known if she had a middle name. Her maiden name was Miller. She married a fella by the name of Cecil Carder and had five children by him. Cecil was killed/murdered in Glen Lake/Sooke are in the 50's. Doreen then married Robert (Bob) Brown. I believe she had several more children by him, but this info is not available. One of those children died young in Alberta. Doreen's siblings are: Raymond Gavin Miller, born: 05 Apr 1918 at Big Bar, BC, and died in Kamloops. Daisey Belle (Miller) Allan, born 18 Nov 1919 at Big Bar. Died in Kamloops. Ethel Rosalee (Miller) Bangham, born Jan 1923 at Big Bar and died 15 Oct 1992 in Ashcroft. Dorothy Evelyn (Miller)Durdle , born Jan 1923 and died in St. Thomas, Ontario. Marjorie Gloria (Miller)Byron, born 07 Jun 1928 at Duncan, BC, and died 07 Jul 2004 on Salt Spring Island BC.I have researched Ancestry.ca, BC Vital Statistics, The LDS site and Google. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks. Darrel.

Hi Stella. Thanks so much. I will keep trying and hopefully, something comes to light. This is very weird, for sure. Aunt Doreen cut herself off from all family members in BC. It seems, her children were sworn to secrecy. Don't know, only guessing. Cheers. Darrel.

Hi May be something to do with the death of Cecil CARDER
What was your source of information re the death/murder of Cecil CARDER - perhaps a different name ?

Secret may have been kept - to give the children a life without being followed by a tragedy.
There may have been an Inquest/ Coroners report .
Newspaper story ? Have you searched?
Though - that wouldn't help with locating Doreen.

cheers, Stella

Re: Doreen. I don't know her middle name. Her fater was Gavin Alonzo Miller, born 01 Aug 1889 at Lillooet, BC and died 31 Dec 1972 in Kamloops. Mother was Alice Emile Hance. Born 30 Mar 1884 at Hanceville, BC. Died 05 Apr 1951. They were not married. Doreen married Cecil Carder in BC. He died about 1953 in Sooke/Glen Lake BC. No details available here. She remarried a Robert (Bob) Brown, later on. No date here.At some point they got divorced. Unknown if he moved to Alberta with her. I tracked the Alberta phone directory and find her listed several times at Flagstaff, Killam. She is using her maiden name of Miller. She died in 2006 at Killam, Alta. No other details available. Her son, Cecil Carder Jr., died abt same time in Saskatchewan. No details on him either. Thanks for any help. I may be reached at: d.byron@shaw.ca or phone 1-250-246-4492. Darrel.

Hello dbyron63, I am almost 100% certain that this Doreen Miller is my great-grandmother or great-great grandmother but I'm not quite certain exactly how I fit into the family. I have heard the story of my great (or great great?) grandfather disappearing and no one ever knowing exactly what happened and I know for a fact his surname was Carder so I'm sure this is the same person. I'd really like any information you have so I can help map out the family tree more and see where I fit in. I can be contacted at brandontaschuk@gmail.com but I'll be sure to send an email to you.

Hi Brandon. Can you tell the storey you got on the disapearence of Cecil Grinder? Also the time frame he went missing and where he went missing. They only found his lunch box. Thats all I know. I have a pretty good hold on the family tree, plus a lot of old family pics. We do need to talk. Later. Darrel.
