Hi Heather,

Ken Swaile and Josie Kye (sp?) were my neighbours in Alhambra when I was growing up. I believe Josie's grandson is still in the area I ran into him last year. I know they both passed away after we moved in 1985. I know she also had a daughter.

Hope this helps!

In response to your search for the above named book. I am the new president of Central Alberta Antique and Model Club, at Leslieville. We have more than 60 cases of this two volume set which we have been selling at our anual show, for $20.00 per set. I am going to suggest at our next meeting that we lower the cost to $10.00 per set. If you wish to contact me via e-mail I will be happy to supply you with further information. Or call me @ 403-722-2659 ask for Vic.

Look under clearwater 2009
This from Vic Jensen 2009

Peter

Ora Franklin Sly was married to Henrietta They had 4 or 5 sons----Harold, Clarence, Floyd, Arnold. Harold and Clarence lived in Montana. I may have met Arnold in Alberta, Canada in the 60's when I was young but never knew Floyd. I think the boys were placed in an orphanage when they were young. Hanrietta was married twice afterwards. I will try to locate a recent picture I found of all the boys together. I think Arnold was a baby in arms. The records of Ora Franklin I found in Tama, Co. Iowa showed his father as John Wm Sly and mother a Margaret (Painter is on the death certificate) Ora died in Billings, Mont. in 1957 and was buried at Waterloo, Iowa

Hi there,

I was told that my great grandfather, Charles Roulston, started a newspaper (or worked for a newspaper) in Rocky around 1918. I am wondering if anyone has any sources on this.

I am also wondering if there is a Cemetery there that has an 'Agnes Roulston' burried there (if so, would there happen to be a birth year?).

Thanks very much in advance,

Vanessa

Have found a relative William Johnson 1880 who emigrated to Rocky Mountain House Alberta Canada on 08/06/1921 aged 41 to take up farming with his brother in law John ?Kochan,of Kocham, or Kochans, the writing is blurred. Does any one know of this family as I have been unable to find any record of them, the postal address was given as Box 23 Rocky Mountain House so I presume they farmed outside the town.

JAY JOHNSON LESLIEVILLE AB

Am looking for any information on a Jay Johnson who ranched near Leslieville til his death around 1965. I think "Jay" was a nickname. His partner was Elida "Lidy" Wagar. They had 5 kids: Alice (the oldest, born January 1948), Ted, Ralph, Eddy and Wayne (the youngest). Elida had 2 older boys from a different relationship: Donald and Allan.
Someone in the area picked the kids up for Sunday School as I have a certificate from Sunday School that has my husband as Donald Johnson (all the kids use the Wagar surname when since I've known them). I think the same person visited Ted in Red Deer Nursing Home and if I recall correctly this person at some time had something to do with the postal service.
When we first visited the place the old buildings were still there but no one was "living" there. Later someone built a corral system and appeared to be breaking horses but no one was home when we dropped by.
Jay and Elida lived in a 3 room house at the top of a hill; partway downhill toward the road was a spring.
Elida left when Wayne was two, so about 1960? The kids had no contact with Jay after she left. She moved to Hoadley and then to Winfield. Don left at age 14 but remained in the area working, including on threshing crews, and at one time had a bush clearing business with one of either Jack Willow's or Jack White's boys. He moved to Edmonton and then northern Manitoba.
Jay died sometime in the mid 1960's.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

There was no envelope therefore no dates the card was quite expensive looking and printed with a Christmas Greeting and the name Wm. Johnson Rocky Mountain House Alberta Canada were also printed.
I think its a long shot but does anyone have a clue?
Hi Stella, Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. Unfortunately I dont know Dorothys married surname. She originaly came from the Oldham area of Lancashire and moved to Canada when she was in her teens. Her maiden name was Hirst. Parente were Mary(nee Halkyard) and William Hirst. I think Dorothy would be about 80 years old now. I am living in Manchester in Lancashire England and am unsure of what the white pages are. Is it a phone book?
Thank you again,
Dee
