Lost Christoling family in Stauffer/Butte area

Surnames: Christoling, Christolling, Kristalnig, Comstock, Simpson, Kuchler, Kirk, Laybourne
I'm looking for my maternal great-grandmother, Theresia Christoling. Her husband's name was Marcus, and they came to the Clearwater County area from Germany/Austria in about 1907 or 1908. They brought with them 7 children. Then Theresia died in childbirth in about 1909, and she was buried somewhere in the Stauffer/Butte area. The children were split up and sent to different families to be raised and lost touch with each other. We are still searching for those lost relatives . . . Some possible surnames of the families who raised/adopted them are: Comstock (from Red Deer); Simpson (from Innisfail); Kuchler (from Red Deer); Kirk; Laybourne. Does anyone have any information about any of these families? Were there newspapers from 1909 in the Stauffer area that would have mentioned Theresia's death and the adoptions of the children?

You can a homestead for Markus KRISTALING on the AGS 1870 - 1930 Alberta Homesteads Records, http://abgensoc.ca/

Also Homesteads for Conrad KUCHER and Clyde Lytle COMSTOCK in in the same area near Stauffer. Clyde Lytle COMSTOCK, 1893 - 12 Oct 1977 is buried in the Red Deer cemetery.

You can find the surnames of those families who raised/adopted them, on the online phone at Red Deer, http://www.canada411.ca/

All or many Alberta Papers are archived at the Alberta Government Legislature Library. They have an index of which papers carry news of neighboring towns. So they can tell you which newspapers in 1909, but they do not do the research.

Peter,
Thanks so much for the information! One question: I couldn't find "Markus Kristaling" at the 1870-1930 Alberta Homestead records website you mentioned -- did you actually find a listing for him, with his name spelled like that? I must not be doing something correctly.

Yes, she would be my grandmother's sister! Do you have any more information about her? A photograph would be wonderful, if you have any.
My grandmother was Barbara's sister, Johanna. I never knew her, nor my mother -- because I was adopted shortly after I was born. Ironically, my name is also Barbara. I would really like to know more about my great-aunt Barbara.
Thank you so much for your posting!
