My great grandad, Walter Harrison Mozley, was born in Camberwell, Surrey, England in either 1866 or 1871. He married Maude Mozley in Essex, England in 1897, having 2 children, Maude Stella Mozley in 1898 and Walter Alan Mozley in 1904. I understand my great grandad is buried at Heart Valley Cemetery, Wanham, Alberta,
apparently having died in 1941.

He moved out to that general area sometime in the early 1920s, I believe. My family always told me he became a potato farmer, but otherwise had little information. He got himself 2 sections of land in the Birch Hills region, probably near Wanham in the 1930s. With his wife, Maude Mozley, who stayed behind in Winnipeg, dying in 1927, it could be that Walter Harrison Mozley remarried in the late 20s or during the 30s. Is anyone familiar with him at all?

Thanks, Hollie, for this reply to my query. I was most fortunate to be in touch with a Mary Nutting at the South Peace Regional Archives, who very kindly shared with me both her own personal photo of my gt granddad's gravestone, plus a copy of his obituary from the local newspaper. Perhaps Mary is your Mum? She was very generous in providing me with these things.

I also spoke with Patricia Greber, who attempted to get me in touch with a Lynn Connell in Wanham, who, she understood, was working to update a history book of Wanham, and try as I would I was unable to get any response from her. I would love to see what is written in that book about my gt granddad, because I understand he was very well known there and quite sociable. I would so like to know what people remembered about him, and I would have been quite willing to share a few extra details to help round out what they may have about him, in terms of back ground.

Hi again, Hollie

I just had a look through Our Future Our Past again, but I am not seeing any books pertaining to Wanham. I noted a reference to a book on the message board here called "We Came, We Stayed", and wondered if that might be the book, but there is not reference to that book on the site, I'm afraid. I'm not sure if this historical book on Wanham is JUST Wanham or also includes places like Spirit River.. No luck, I'm afraid, on the Our Future Our Past site, although it was the window that got me to a contact, Mary, who provided me with a copy of the obituary and a picture of my granddad's grave site.

On the our future our past site go to search and type in the name of the person and search in text, the wanham book is "grizzle" bear ? something. I don't have a copy of that one. Lynn travels a lot, it might take her awhile to get back to you.
