Hello Stella,
Thank you for your suggestions for sources that might help with my search for FTC WELLS.
My original posting in 2011 was prompted by finding a death announcement in the Isle of Wight County Press in 1926 for Florence Amelia WELLS (nee TUCKER). There was no report of the funeral. At the time this was my only reference to FTC WELLS and read - " WELLS. – July 13, at Thyra Villa, East Cowes, Florence Amelia, wife of F.T.C. Wells, of Banff, Canada, aged 33."
Since then I have found more information about FTC WELLS. I found his birth on Rootsweb free BMD - Frederick Theodore Claude WELLS, born Tunbridge Registration District, Kent in 1893. He was buried in Banff in 1975 (Alberta Family History Society Cemetery database). I'm still in the dark about a WELLS/TUCKER marriage though it looks as though there was a child of this marriage, Olive Sylvia WELLS, born on the Isle of Wight in 1921.
Last year I found some immigration documents -
In 1920 he travelled on the 'Empress of Britain' from St John, New Brunswick to Liverpool. He was a store clerk aged 27 and gave his European address as Thyra Villa, Yarborough Road, East Cowes.
In 1921 he returned to Canada, again on the 'Empress of Britain' travelling from Liverpool to Quebec. This particular passenger list was more informative than most. He was asked if he'd been to Canada before (yes); when (1911-1920); where (Banff); and how long (4 years). The passenger declaration he completed said he had been to England to visit his wife of Thyra Villa, Yarborough Road, Cowes and was returning to work in Canada. His destination in Canada was to his sister, Mrs G NOBLE of Banff, Alberta.
In 1927 5 year old daughter Olive travelled on 'Melita' from Southampton to St John, New Brunswick accompanied by James NOBLE a photographer aged 47. They both gave Chine View, Blackgang, IW as their last address in England.
I wonder if James NOBLE is related to FTC' sister - Mrs G NOBLE.
I have found that the Whyte Museum of the Canadian Rockies has a collection from the photography shop in Banff of George NOBLE. Was he brother-in-law to FTC?
Thank you again for your interest.
Janet
