Hi,
I also have relatives who lived in Izmir. My grandfather, Caleb Lawrence, taught at the International College in Smyrna before and after WW I. He married Helen Lewis who was born in Sokia, Turkey. Her father was William Bucknor Lewis and her mother was Leila Williamson. The Lewis' and the Williamsons were British and had lived in the Smyrna area since the mid-1850's I believe. I have lots of family photos if these families are familiar to you. You many also want to visit this site: http://www.levantine.plus.com/histor2.htm which contains lots of historical information on Brits living in Izmir.
