Re your question about a British chapel in Smyrna (now Izmir, Turkey), there are at present three places of worship there which could fit that description. Three months ago I visited St John the Evangelist in central Izmir (the only fully operational such church there at present, Anglican/Episcopal) and All Saints at Buca (the former Boudjah, where many British and other expatriates lived). There are two cemeteries with British graves in situ: Anglican Cemetery, Bornova (former Bournabat, similar to Boudjah); and All Saints at Buca. A project is now underway to catalogue the graves - I imagine the British Consulate at Izmir could supply you with the necessary details. - Willem
