Hi there,
I too believe I am a decendent of the Ottoman Empire, but who I don't know. The story is this, My mothers family name is Ameer-Beg. I researched the name to find that 'Beg' is derived from the Turkish language to be 'Bey' , originally being a title denoting a local administrator in the Ottoman Empire. So I researched the Ottoman Empire, they were like Roalty then. And the story I have been told of my family is that we have a royal bloodline, so I feel that this is the connection. When I researched the other part of the name 'Ameer' or 'Amir' is derived from the Arabic language to mean 'Prince', 'Comander' or 'Master'.
A family member has told me too that one of our ancestors worked for the Maharaja Duleep Singh.
So... how would these two names have come together? And how is our family linked to the Maharaja Duleep Singh?
Perhaps someone from the Ottoman Empire left and married an Arabian lady? A English Lady? Or an Indian Lady?

What do you think? As you can see I have alot of information to sort through. If you have any information that would be so valuable to me.
