Hi Guys. Where are you from? Seems to me that nobody in Palestine is paying attention to these posts!, It would be really nice to find out that we still have family there. By the way, I grandfather's name was Antonio Lama too, but he was born here, in the Dominican REpublic, his Parents were born in bethlehem though. Keep in touch

Please check my Husbands family site Dahdah Family Tree see if any of the old Dahdahs are familiar.
I was told that the name came from Lebanon originally, the families separated to different part of the Middleast and across the world mostly to the Americas (Latin America). Sometimes you can recognize by photos a facial features as it happened with my family tree. We know that my Husband Edward dahdah has still family in the States mainly known in California, and also in Australia.
His family lived mainly in Jaffa and Haifa when they were young then on the 1948 upraising they were on holiday in lebanon with relatives and this is were they had to move on as they could not enter palestine. Edward was born in Alayroun lebanon, after him they moved to Jordan Amman, Jabal Husien area and stayed there till 1968 when they (all the family)slowly moved to Canada. We all now live in Ontario, Canada.
Yes the Dahdah Family is big and everywhere. Just like you we can only go so far as grandparents did mention dates and people by their full name, e.g. he was born on the first day it snowed in Alayroun it was before Christmas (Edward). Some of the churches and Mousques were thorn down therefore papers were hard to get,we met a Dahdah that is also Muslim living in Jordan, we simply had to keep asking other relatives, and I still am.
I would like to hear from you if this tree applies to your family too. So check it out!!!!

Regards,
Margaret Dahdah Bowman

Greetings,
I hope I can revitalize this group a bit. For those of you seeking information about Rizkallah (Rizqallah), I can direct you to the Ramallah Club of San Jose at www.afrpsanjose.com. It is a non-profit group with many extensive family trees from Ramallah and the surrounding areas. You must look in the Family Tree section for the Jaghab tree. There you will find over 100 Rizqallah names.
Unfortunately, the files are in pdf format so they can not be imported and they are difficult to navigate. I've tried requesting the gedcom files from John but have been told that there are "copyright" issues. Technically, gedcom files can not be copyrighted as they only contain historical records without stories. But I digress.. If anyone has luck obtaining them, please share.

On another note, I recognize some of the names in this post. I will email you for more information about some of them.

The film is in English and records births and deaths in Beit Jala from the period of early 1920s until the 1950s. Good luck!

Hello,
I'm starting to do research on my mom's side of the family, and her grandfather's name was Ismaih Abraham Asfour. He was married to Sylvie Martin in New Brunswick, Canada in 1904. Her grandfather eventually changed his name to Bird before moving to the US.
Thanks very much!
Marcia

His name was Elias , like my dad's, and he had come from Vienna II believe. He had attended my cousins wedding with us and I have a picture of him then. He had a beatles type hairdo, with bangs and his hair was a little longer. and he had a mole on his face. i was about 18 at the time and he looked to be in his early twenties.

Hi,

You probably have many relatives still in Palestine. Palestinian lastnames are usually unique and do not belong to seperate families. A simple google search for Palestinians in Bethlehem with the last name Kawas will show you many who are in one way or another related to you.

I am a Palestinian Muslim, but it would be great if Palestinian Christians returned back to their roots in Palestine as so many have fled. Anyway why not visit your homeland, I am sure you will have better luck there.

Yep, that's right. Abido was my grandfather. He was married to Bahia. Bahia's brother was Hanna, and Hanna married Mary Asfour. Mary still lives with one of her daughters here in town not too far from me, though her health is rather poor.

We should try to get your mother to mark some of this down. The older generation has so much information: it is always such a tragedy when they don't have a chance to share it with us.

Does she tell you all sorts of stories about the past? That's what my Aunt Mary (Nahas) used to do. They form the centerpiece of my current work.

Well, my grandfather had only sisters, as far as I know, but he also had uncles. There may be a connection there. My family is also Christian; my grandmother was from Lebanon.

The differences lie in the names. The Yousef I have on my tree is my uncle, and he lives in Vienna now. Elias was my father (and I don't think we're long lost siblings ;)).
