Thanks for your information. I will follow up this December or in the summer when I visit for an extended time period....but I do have a question that I hope you can answer. I have always been curious why they left NY that has so many immigrants to live in SC where they are so obviously the minority. Were you able to find anything that would explain this. And one relative always talked about the KKK (not in detail) but it was obvious that being Middle Eastern was not liked so I can only imagine what it would be like in SC. Could you share your thoughts. Thank you again for your help.
And to let you know, John's son Joseph became quite successful in B'ham. He had a restaurant, and owned a lot of real estate in downtown B'ham as well as a bank. The other sons were quite successful business owners as well. There was a total of 3 sons who eventually made it to B'ham. I understand why they went to B'ham...there was already a large population of Lebanese families as well as an established Melkite church which the Eastern rite brought a priest from the Middle East to lead.
