I was so excited to see your response. I am a Kerge. It was my maiden name. My father is John Kerge, son of John A. and Marguerite L. Kerge. My grandfather came to the US (New York) in the early 1900's from Damascus with his parents, Abdo and Mary. My grandfather had 2 brothers, Louis and James and 3 sisters (married names), Linda Gassoun, Rose Lian & Nora Haweeny. None are alive today.
