Here's some of the ancestry of Queen Noor of Jordan, fourth wife of the late King Hussein and mother of Crown Prince Hamzah. She's of mixed Syrian/Swedish/English/Scots descent. This was compiled by William A. Reitweisner, not by me; he can be reached at wrei@loc.gov if you have questions, but please note he probably will not research your personal genealogy. This is just something I thought might be of interest if your family includes a HALABY from Syria.

Her Majesty, Noor Al-Hussein, Queen of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan was born Lisa Najeeb Halaby.

She was not named Elizabeth she was named Lisa. Her late husband King Hussein bin Talal gave her the name "Noor Al-Hussein" meaning Light of Hussein.

Why do so many places think she was named Elizabeth? That is not the name her parents gave her.

Al-HusbandsName being the common form for Jordanian royal wives. For example Antoinette Gardener became Princess Muna Al-Hussein, Rania Yassin became Princess (now Queen) Rania Al-Abdullah, Alia Toukan became Queen Alia Al-Hussein, ect....

The children are for sons bin/ben daughters are bint/bent al fathersname. Princess Haya bint Al-Hussein, Princess Aisha Bint Al-Hussein, Princess Iman Bint Al-Hussein, ect...
