Hi Adel,

Thanks for getting back to me. Yes, we are family and my mum often talked about her uncle Nouri and so I think your dad ,Alfred and Stanley were her cousins. I hope they are all ok in Baghdad.

Unfortunately, I have bad news to pass on as my mum, Eleanor, passed away in April. It was all very sudden and mum was youngish-71 - so we are still quite traumatised and I miss her very much. Her brother Shawqi(Joe) and sisters Betty, Solange and Primrose are still alive. Mum was buried in the same cemetry outside Andover as her mum, Kamil, my grandma. Primrose is in the US and I spoke to her when all this happened .The others are fine and because of all this ,I have been spending more time with my cousins.

My personal e-mail is lhurley25@yahoo.com so do please stay in touch.

Linda

Hey, thank you so much for your reply.
It has given me a place to start and it's quite strange really because my family and I have just spent a month in NZ and are currently being processed for residency. Only last night I was looking at a job in Auckland....weird or what!

Not sure what the New Zealand archives are, but am sure will get to find out.

Thanks again -

Angela

I am looking for Hadi (may be Hady) Al Rikabi (again not sure of spelling) who was a student in the North East of England , possibly Middlesborough, in or around 1965. He would have known the Bowe Family and particularly Judy or Judith. It is possible he returned to middle east in 1965 or soon after, or he may have stayed in England. I understand his family were professional people, doctors or dentists and he himself may have been studying medicine in the UK.

Appologise for thread title and first post, i was having trouble so this is only a test attempt to get error codes.

I am new here, and thinking of doing the DNA test mainly out of curiousity to see if I'm related to any famous Iraqi characters, and for how long my ancestors have been in Iraq, ie. from Mesopotamian times, Arab expansion, Persian/Sassanid empire times etc...
I am just wondering if anyone else did this, and if it helped, and how clear it is. Also are there any other ways to trace Iraqi amily history far back.

Many thanks in advance.

Do you know if your Hannosh family was originally from Tel Kaif?
My grandmother Amena Hannosh (sometimes spelled Hannos)
was born in Tel Kaif in the late 1880s. Her siblings were: Maryam,
Jajjo (not sure about the spelling), and Babbali. Do you see any
connections? There are also quite a few Hannosh gravestones
in the cemetery in Southfield, Michigan.

Hi Sandy,

I think you may be my cousin but I can't remember if we met when I was younger. I am Eleanor's daughter and I took mum and dad to see your dad and Sandra in Catford after Marjorie died in June. Last year I was teaching a step-up geneology course and used some of the material and addresses to start a bit of digging of my own. You are the first concrete reply!

I'm living in Bristol at the moment doing my PGCE in FE. I've been teaching/lecturing for five years, two in China, and am trying to get more established in Britain, hence the PGCE. My brother John lives in Slough and I tend to pop home to Andover every few weeks. I took mum and dad to see Betty just before Christmas - I willingly act as taxi driver now - as she's in Hampshire. I can remember meeting your sister Miranda when I was about 13 but we've only just had more contact withe the rest of the family - mum is terrible about staying in touch...

Hello,

My ancestors were from the villages of Urmia, Persia. I have been told that they lived in Diza or Deza and Ardishai (sp?). Before residing in Persia they were from Assyrian villages in Iraq, but I don't know where.

They left Persia during the genocides during WWI era and came to Ellis Island, stayed in NY a short time and settled in Philadelphia. Eventually some made their way to California.

I am seeking family members for any of the following surnames so that we may exchange histories, recipes, and family photos, stories...
PEARAH
PEARA
SHALITTA
SHMON
WALAD
YOUSEF
YONAN

Any replies or exchange of information is most appreciated!

Best wishes,
Christy Shalitta Hooper

http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/s/h/a/Christy-M-S...

Neither my mom or her two sisters agree on the way his last name was spelled in Iraq(Al-Sayegh) They do agree however on how his Uncle Jack's last name was spelled, and that is Dinno.(Uncle Jack was my grandfather's mother's brother) He came to the states a few years before my grandfather. They were both from Mossul. My greatgrandfather was a silversmith in Mossul. My grandfather had two sisters named Bedur and Mariam who as far as I know stayed in Mossul.

If anyone has any connection to or info about this family please contact me.

Their father is Talal Hannosh, from Bagdhad. He came to Mi. in about 1985. His fathers name was Yacoub Haba Hannosh. He recently had a cousin Basim or Kamal Hannosh who recetly passed of cancer. I know he was from Tel Kief. I also know Talal's grandfathers name was Dauod. There must be a connection. Please email me with any info you have. I have three children with Talal, all girls. Talia, Lina, Liliah. Thank you for your time.
Wendy Hannosh
