I am trying to find possible relatives in Ečka, Serbia. My great great-grandfather (Marcu Cadarean) was born around 1879 in Ečka, Austria Hungary, which I later found out was in modern-day Serbia. His son, Peter, was born in Yugoslavia (I don't know where), and Peter's son (my grandpa) was born in Banat, Yugoslavia.
Marcu immigrated to the US (Detroit, Michigan), while Peter and my grandpa immigrated to Canada, later residing in Windsor, Ontario. When they all came over, apparently their name changed from Cadarean to Cadarian.
I was wondering how I would go about finding relatives in Ečka, Serbia. I tried a Serbian White Pages website and I couldn't find anyone with the last name Cadarean.
Someone suggested that I may be related to Kadarijan's, because apparently the last name Cadarean translated to Kadarijan in Serbia, while someone else suggested I might be related to people with the last name Cădărean.
Does anyone have any tips or know of anyone in Serbia with those last names? I really want to find out if there are any relatives there.
