Summary:

After the Peace Treaty of Požarevac, in 1718, Srem was entirely liberated from
the Turks. Newly established Austrian authorities made an effort to put in order conditions in border regions and to acquire necessary financial resources. Numerous reports
testify about a difficult situation of local population. This was the reason why in the
year of 1720, an Emperor's Decree was issued which implied a new census of popula-tion in Srem, with the purpose of more just distribution of financial and other burdens.

In those times Srem was divided in four districts: that of Petrovaradin, of Surčin,
of Surduk, and of Mitrovica. Mitrovica estate included places of central and southern
Srem, with the town of Mitrovica as its administrative center. The document which is presented here originates from The Croatian State Archive in Zagreb, and one copy of it can be found in The Archive of Vojvodina in Novi Sad.

Register is made as a tabular survey, with the following columns:
Name of the inhabitant,
Head of the household,
Married brothers and sons,

Acres of cultivable soil, Swaths of meadows, Hoes of vineyards, and Acres of
whole real estate.

In the last chart a breif summary of situation for every place is given in German language.
