hi i just found your email to me. as i wrote arnold has just come back to city from living in california. his son david is in the groveland listings in ma.
A's wife is interrred at children of israel cem although nonjewish.He is in charge of the cemetery that is why.

you can him in on his cell now that he is back here.

I have just arrived at this page about the Moghilev Podolsky cemetery list, and I am requesting they check for STERN--I see that you did the same in 1999.
Eliyahu Stern (Elijah?) and Evelyn Stern were my great-grandparents. Do you know of them?
Their children who came to the US (that I know about) were David, Samuel, Anita, Rose, and Bessa.

Hi, Patty. I would really like to get in contact with you. I have extensive information about the family history, which I would be glad to share with you. I am writing a novel about the three generations and your story helped me out. However, some of the information I have conflicts with your account.
Are you aware, that Donna did a DVD of her interview with Ida? I have a copy, which I would be glad to send to you. Donna also has tapes of interviews with the other family members, but she is stonewalling my attempts to get them for reasons that I don't understand. Maybe you can get through to her.
I have been trying to contact Bob, but for some strange reason he usually refuses to answer me. Maybe you have enough communicative ability to tell me what grudges family members have against me. Then I can either explain my actions or excuse myself for them. It would be great if we could work together on this project. I certainly need your help and I think I could help you too. I can speak seven languages including Russian and some Polish (my wife is originally from Poland). Maybe we could meet in Kiblyc some day and walk to Teplyk, which is only eight miles away.

My name is Lisa Deckter. I believe am a member of the "missing" side of your family that you've been looking for.

My great grandfather Louis Deckter and his wife Ida stayed in Philadelphia while his brother Abraham ended up in New York.

I just recently found the missing brother's name - Harry Decker through ancestry.com combined with a few other websites (I can elaborate more on the details of the "trail" I followed to find the information if you like). And then bang - I found your post which confirmed everything we knew combined with what I had discovered.

My grandparents Sam and Bella Deckter had gone out to California and visited with his (my grandfather's) cousin Sam Decker, I believe it was not long before my grandfather died (which was in 1980). Since then we have lost touch with your family.

My father and his brother have always been very interested in finding the "lost" (at least temporarily) side of the family. I know he had at one point looked on Ancestry.com, but it the end it was the computer professional (me) that wins the "I found them!" prize :).

Im Yonit from Israel. my grandfather family is Schinder and his father and gradfather comes from odesa, Ukraine to Argentina in 1895. they escape from Ukrine from the progromes. his father name was Gregorio and he was 11 years old when he arrived to Argentina. he came with another 3 or 2 brothers and sisters (I think there names was Israel, hershale something like that...) and with his parents. I dont remember there names but we are trying to find all this data.
what can you tell me about your family from there?

As far as my Pevner family, Hyman Pevner arrived in the US on March 18 1906 in Boston on the Ivernia. He shows that he lived previously in Lyubar. He married a woman named Gittleb. What I am curious about is the other Pevna's that I have discovered who also settled in Mass, one group with Samuel Pevna who arrived 6/13/1913 in NY on the Celtic and who went to Boston eventually, and the other being Hode Pevna who arrived in Boston 7/23/1908 on the Saxonia, and who had other Pevna relatives. I would love to see if anyone has any pre-1908 info on these people and their families since clearly there will be no remaining relatives after WWII as they were Jewish.

I've been working for 10 years and still have limited info on my families from the Vinnitsa area. My grandfather was named Orchow and came from Lipovets, his wife was a Medovar. My other grandmother was a Pevner/Pevna from Romanov, who also had Goldsmann and Fishmann relatives. Anyone else?

I received by regular mail a photocopy of an article from a Haaretz newspaper (from Israel).
In this article a man who call Yaakov Drucker who escaped death by taking care of burials of Jews from the Mogilev ghetto drew a map of the cemetery and established a listing of the Jews buried there.
If anyone would like that I look for any surname in this list, please tell me.
I want to tell you that this list have been written in manuscript, so some
surnames are very illegible.

Ive looked for in the copy of the list that I have, and I didnt found any of that surnames.
But Ive found Hans (or Hana) Guttman (I dont know if there are any similitude with Goodman)
Near these name there are one word (Rti), I think this is a town or a city thats called Radauti.

My G.G.Fater Nuchim 1870-1942.had 10 broters. Moshe 1866-1943. Berl 1875-1942. Gabriel 1877-1938.Israel 1879-1959. Baruch,Leyb, Shmuel,Abram,Chaim,Itshak. They all been born in Teplik,and after revolution moved to Bershad.Amazing! My G.G.Fater and yours G.G.Fater Moshe lived very clouse.Maybe they related? Is Munish from Ladyzhin and your G.Fater related? Nicolay.

I don't think it's the same Moshe, as his son David (my great grandfather) was born in about 1875. In that year, your Moshe would have been 9 years old.

Moshe was born in Teplik it's just 7 miles from Ladizin.Moshe 1866-1943,his wife Feiga 1870-1917.Children Sonia 1902-1979.Hana 1905-2000.Mark 1908-2005.Shifra 1915-1971. Nikolai 1916-1997. Did you check Yad Vasem? They have Munish Chernobelski 1884-1941.From Ladizhin.Munish and his family been killed in Odessa in 1941.

My great great grandfather was Moshe/Morris Chernobelsky (or Chernobolsky) from Ladizin, Ukraine. His dates were approximately 1855-1930 and never came to the USA.

Could he have been one of the ten brothers?

My Grandfather was a Sawchuk. Except he spelled his last name Sauchuk. His father was John Sauchuk and his mother was Lena Sauchuk(maiden name was Lasanko). I've found his parents in a 1916 Census living in Shellmouth, Manitoba. I believe they came here in 1901. Do you have any information on them? Or does my information help you?

I found this discussion on families from Bershad, Ukraine. My grandfather's side was from Bershad. His family name is Cherner but he and all the other Jewish population had to flee the Romanians in 1943. If anyone has any information on the Cherner family from Bershad, Ukraine please let me know

I finally found a reference to a family surname, Nebrikh or Nebrekh meaning "not to tell lies". A book said it is associated with Mogilev and Berditchev. Does anyone recognize this name and/or is it in the cemetery records?
