I am only aware that my maternal grandmother immigrated to New York in the early 50's. I found the ship documents with her being a passenger. She lived in Brooklyn New York until her death in October of 1975. Her name was Alexandra Oskina Melnikowa. Born on April 23, 1895 in Kamyshovskay, Rostov/Don Russia. I am still trying to locate where she is buried in New York.
My grandfather's name was, Michael (Mickhail) Melnikowa and he was born in St. Villanova, Russia. Born on Octobet 8, 1895.
There are many stories that I listened as my mother told me for many years. They fled their country because of the War. My grandfather was an instructor at a military college in Poltava when he was arrested for treason by Stalin's army. I was also told that my grandmother was taken in for questioning and my mother and my uncle were sent to an orphanage. My mother and grandmother fled to many places in Europe during the war . A lot of stories and untold stories remain buried now. I am trying to find out more about this side of my mother's family. Also looking to find out where my grandmother is buried in New York.
Thank you for your time.
