My great grandmother, last name Milgrom has listed as place of birth on her marriage certificate Evangorsd. Is this familiar to anyone? I can't seem to locate any similar local. Elsewhere, her sister lists Nikolayev as a birthplace, so there is a chance they are near each other. Any ideas?

Latest zip code 26200-204

Mala Viska has not been filmed by LDS !!!

Records are likely available thru Oblast Archives. Once metrykal data is located, they will notify you and provide you w/cost
and instructions how to make payment.

State Archives of Kirovohrad Oblast
[Derzhavnyi arkhiv Kirovohradskoi oblasti]
3 Akademika Korolova st., (Archives 1)
1g Lunacharskoho, (Archives 2)
25013 Kirovohrad
Tel: (0522) 23-71-10 (Archives 1)
Tel: (0522) 22-68-60 (Archives 2)
E-mail: kir_inspec@radiokom.kr.ua
Working hours: Monday-Thursday, 8:00-17:15; Friday 8:00-16:00
_____________________________________________________

Consider calling information in Ukraine and asking for list of same surnames in Mala Vyska. The town consists of appx 13,000 inhabitants.

BRAMA - City Phonecodes (English)
http://www.brama.com/ukraine/citycode.html

PS> I think that Mislewetz means THINKER and Bespolova means
WITHOUT A FIELD??? Mother's ancestral town was/is a place of Cossack descendants. Are you sure she was from district center town and not one of the 25+ villages in the district?
Immigrants frequently referred to their district center as place of origin for geographical referrence, because their own villages were very small.

Guido,

Guten tag. I have seen your quite old post on the website and a few other postings. My name is Quentin Schmierer and my great-grandparents (Jacob Schmierer) emigrated from the Ukraine to America in 1907. There were several familes of Schmierers living in the Ukraine at that time. My own family line traces back to the village of Erdmannhausen to another Jakob Schmierer who left there in 1819 for Klein Neudorf in the Ukraine. I suspect you are descended from people who remained there through WW I and part of WW II and then were able to return to Germany. I am afraid whoever didn't do that for the most part did not survive the war, at least as far as I have been able to find. They were physically moved for certain.

Feel free to respond to my note if you get this. I would be interested in your ancestry and if there is a connection. My e-mail is quser49@gmail.com. You can feel free to use either German or English, I can understand both.

Marion,

I noticed your response to Guido on this thread. My name is Quentin Schmierer and I my grandparents came from Bessarabia as well. Some of the towns they lived in were Klein Nedorf and Neudorf. I also had an uncle named Henry Harr whose parents were from the Ukraine as well. They lived in the Cleveland, North Dakota area. I don't know if there are any connections between my family and yours as there were two or three separate groups of Schmierers who left Russia in the early 1900's and settled in adjacent areas in North Dakota and South Dakota. Interestingly the family names were almost identical in several cases amongst the male descendents. I realize this posting is ancient, so will include my e-mail if you get a post from it. quser49@gmail.com.

I have determined that the village may also be called Vasilyevka. It is in the Mykolayiv Oblast. In the late 1800's it was a German-Russian village called Wilhelmstal. The co-ordinates are 46° 48' N, 31° 25'E. I would be pleased to communicate with anyone having knowledge of this village as well as any photos of the village and area. Thanks.

My grandfather was Israel Kolker born in 1879 in Bugapol. I believe that city was part of Russia at that time. Israel was married to Mary Bobin from Odessa. They moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA just after the turn of the century. They had two children, Nat (born 1908) and Rhea (born 1904). Israel paid for several relatives to come to the USA via ship. Unfortunately, the ship was the Titanic. All the relatives perished. Israel died in 1966.

Please forward your information in this ROLL line when it is completed.

I did not get your maiden name.
Hi! You found Grandpa! That's us! Milton Roll married Corrine Haggen (?) and they had three children. I am working on the dates and such, but thought you would enjoy the names. Their children are: Allen, Dianne, and Sheyrl. Allen married Carrie Stein and they divorced three years later. Allen remarried several years later to Bev ? and they are divorced as of this year.

Carrie and Allen had three children... Jayme Allen (My husband.) (Jan. 1980) {We live in Grant County) Jeremy Adam (June 1981), (Still lives in Dodge County.) and Jennilyn Anne Roll (October 1982) who married in May 2002 to Charlie Lamarr Chaplin. She moved to Madison, AL.

Since I just married into the family I am still trying to get all the names and dates.. but Sheyrl Roll married a Pete Heiling and they had 3 children. 2 boys, 3 girls. I don't remember Dianne's husband or chilren.

Thanks for all your help! Its wonderful! Hope this little bit helps..
