Hello! My name is Caitlyn and I'm trying to find more information about my great-grandfather Abraham Lazar (Lazarovich?) Brodsky. He was born in Elizavetgrad around 1887 and it is thought that his mother's name may have been Ida. I'm a little shaky when it comes to interpreting the patronymic, but I assume that his father's name was Lazar. Please correct me if I'm wrong. We know for certain that he had two sisters named Leah (who went by Lil) and Mary. All three of these siblings ended up in Chicago, though Abraham originally immigrated to Hamilton, Ontario, with his wife Clara Reznikova. They moved to Dayton, Ohio, before settling in Chicago. After World War II, they and all five of their grown children and spouses relocated to California.
We know virtually nothing about Abraham's parents or whether he had other siblings. Could he be one of the brothers? There is a postcard photo of a young boy named Solomon, apparently a nephew of Abraham.
Attached is a photo of Abraham c. 1904, and a photo of his parents. Note his mother's glass eye!
Any word of advice helps. Thank you!
Caitlyn
