I too am looking for direct decendants of the Lieberman family. All I know about my Mother's side of the family is that my grandmother Ceil was a Lieverman and her mother Anna Lieberman was left to raise 5 children. Two of the children died early and the other three went on.

Does Henry or Anna "Annie" Lieberman ring a bell?

Susan Novak Backer

Hi Mario:

My email address is brian.schatz@sasktel.net

What I am interested in is photos of any houses or businesses that still remain there.

I do have a map of Bobrowyj Kut showing the non Jewish property owners names on the properties they owned. The Jewish prpoerty owners are not shown. If my memory is correct it shows a Jewish section (area) on the map. I have to find my map again its upstairs in with all my other stuff so it may take a bit to find.

I found it not much shown on the Jewish population Weisspapier Scholom (Jude), Judenfriedhof and Riebentraeger (Jude) is all that is shown.

Brian

Hi Mario:

Was there anything left of the village of Bobrowyj Kut??? I heard that it was destroyed during WWII. Just wondering if you took any photos???

All I know the Lutheran and Catholic families that went to Boborowyj Kut were Musterwirtes (sample farmers). They were asked by the Russian government to go there to show the Jewish farmers how to become better farmers.

I really don't know anything of the Jewish population there.

Brian

My name is Mario Pisarenco, I live in Argentina, South America. My grandfather, Kisil Pisarenco lived in Bobrovy kut, kherson, to immigrate to my country, in 1929. He was recruited for the war Russo-Japanese (1905) by force and participated in it. I was recently in town, and talk to the head of the commune. There is no history about Jews who were massacred by the nazis. Front of the commune there is a monument with the name of all those killed. Possibly hide information for fear of claims of inheritance. Today there are no Jews. This synagogue in ruins.
Talk with current rabbis of two nearby cities (Nikolayev and Kherson) and have no information.
Your right...the possibility is there. Johannes b: 1869 would have been not quite 27 when my Johannes was born in 1896. I have so many questions...what happened to Johannes and his wife (Ida Thomas)? I'm taking this as some kind of sign you getting hold of me at this time...it may be time to start searching again. Where there any plagues etc around the time of my Johannes birth?
Thanks for the help...you have got my mind working again.
Does the birth record give any other information about Johannes b: 1869 besides his parents names. God parents? Occupation?
Have a Wonderful Thanksgiving. After years of having it at our home, now our children and their families have taken over and all I do is make the dessert. Feels strange. Have to learn how to enjoy this.

Hi Patricia:

There is no Netzel's left at Muehlhausendorf by the time of the 1941/42 Village Report (Census).

So families moved around lots believe it or not.

But your Johannes Frederick Netzel's parents or grandparents

But your Johannes Frederick Netzel's father was very likely the Johannes Netzel I found born in 1869. And if his father was another sibling of this Johannes b. in 1869 you now know who the grandparents were!!! This is not 100% certain as another Netzel could have moved there after the end of 1885. But I would tend to think its the ones above!!!

Brian

Hello Brian,
Thank you for this information. It sure could belong to my tree.
What I know is that my Grandfather Johannes Frederick Netzel was born June 15, 1896 and died July 16, 1929 of Cancer in Moose Jaw, Sask. He came to Canada December 1912 when he was 17. He was an orphan and brought up by his grandparents. It was because of his ship papers and 1916 Census that I found out he was from Muhlhausendorf, Russia. Thats where his journey started from and I'm just guessing that, that is where he was born...I don't know for certain. Did they do much travelling in those days?
Thank you for the information and your interest. I think that he will always be my brick wall.
Patricia Greffard

BOBROVY KUT (Бобровый Кут) , Jewish agricultural settlement in Nikolayev district, Ukraine. It was established in 1807 with private funds and settled by families from Mogilev, Belorussia. The settlement numbered 406 Jews in 1810, and 165 families in 1815 (416 men and 327 women). Additional families were transferred there in 1825, 1837, and 1841, and the settlement numbered 1,184 in 1849, 1,248 in 1897, and over 2,000 in 1926, but dropped to 600 (136 families)in 1936. Under the Soviet government, Bobrovy Kut was incorporated in the autonomous Jewish district of Kalinindorf and like the other Jewish agricultural settlements traversed many vicissitudes. It suffered years of hunger, was changed into a kolkhoz, and underwent internationalization, admission of non-Jews. The Jewish settlers were often accused of being "petit-bourgeois," nationalists, or Zionists. Many of the younger settlers were arrested and deported, while most of the older ones left. A Yiddish school was in operation in the 1930s. Bobrovy Kut was occupied by the Germans on August 27, 1941. They soon murdered 850 Jews from the village and its environs, and in September 300 from the surrounding kolkhozes.

BIBLIOGRAPHY:
V.N.
Hi

I did the Lutheran records for the village of Bobrowyj Kut. Bobrowyj Kut was a Jewish farming village that had Musterwirtes (Sample farmers) who were Lutheran, Catholic and Mennonite who were asked by the Russians to go there and show the Jewish farmers how to be better farmers. I do not know anything about the Jewish settlers there.

I have a map of Bobrowyj Kut but it only shows the names of the Musterwirtes for Property owners rest of the property owers are not shown on what I have.

The spelling is different because I am using one of many spellings for this village.

I have a write up on the village on when it was founded etc which you may find of use. But you may already have the info on the village.

Brian

Mark,

Most of my Millman family immigrated to the east coast (Mostly Rhode Island) from Eastern Europe.....during the Czars persecution of the Jews...in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Most are in RI. The photo that I attached is from my Grandmother Jeanne Millman's family. She married my Grandfather, Samuel Lovett "Mendelovitz" in RI in the mid-late 1920s.
I attended the "Millminium" in the summer of 2000 in Rhode Island. We had an amazing turn out. Relatives arrived from all over the USA, China, Belgium, etc. I have photos and stories, if you would care to see them.
My father, William Millman Lovett was born in Providence, RI on April 11, 1931. He moved to CA in the 1950s. He married my Mom in Nov. 1956. He passed away on Sept.17,1994. My kids and I still live in CA, but most of my Dad's family lives on the east coast.
I have attached a photo from 1906 of the Millman-Wine wedding in RI. My Great Grandparents, Joseph (Yussel)and Fannie (Fruma) Bolotin Millman are in the photo.
Our cousin Fred Nathan and his wife Caroline Millman Nathan put together much of our genealogy and the reunion. Fred and Caroline are 3rd cousins of each other, I believe. Fred's Mother, Ethel Millman, was cousins with my Dad's Mom, Jeanne Millman Lovett...like a few cousins...so many times removed, if you know what I mean. Fred passed away, but his family is still in CA. I also have the family trees that Leon and Fred put together, plus other old photos.
Lisa Jeanne Lovett

lodramaqueen@aol.com

Hi Greg

I began this thread some time ago when I first started looking for members of the family. Unfortunately, there is little that can be done except through message lists or bulletin boards.

I do, however, have a file from Aust National Archives on Bub. If you are interested, you can recover a copy yourself for a fee because all the info is now in the public arena. This is where some of the info you were given the other night came from. Otherwise, you should contact Carolyn and arrange a time for coffee at Tilly's and I can give her the file for you to look at.

Are you aware that Roman had another daughter, Maria. We have had contact with her but her English is very bad. She lives in Germany.

You know, I owe you a coffee sometime. It is a debt long overdue!!

Cheers

Lynne

I would like to confirm.

I would like to know if Mordechai was born in Bobrovy Kut, or came as a child, or came as an adult. I'd like to know who his parents were, and what he did for a living.

Any information, or guidance of where to look for this kind of information would be greatly appreciated.

Amira Lapidot Hemme

Hi

I have a file started on Netzel's and I have a completed file on Rausch's and I have worked on the Kowalsky records also. To help do you have names of couples before the end of 1885 or names and birthdates before the end of 1885.

I have also seen the Thomas surname in the same area.

Maybe I can help!!!

Brian

Hi

I was checking the postings and saw your messages.

Rosalienfeld is a Catholic village within the Nikolajew Area in 1911 there was 192 persons there and 419 person in 1926. There is another Rosalienfeld but that one is in the Crimean Area of Russia.

Halfinger surname I maybe able to help with. The Daitche surname not sure I would have to check my files. Oberdoerfer I think I have seen in the records.

If your ancestors were Catholic I won't be able to help but if they were Lutheran then I should be able to help some.

Also check this site out for your surnames and all their spelling variations also. http://www.odessa3.org/search.html
It is a searchable site and Daitche is in it for sure. Oh the Halbinger on the Daitche site is very likely Halfinger.

In the Query String type in the surname or village name then in the Data Category click on the arrow on the RH side there are 13 things to check out.

The Kronstadt should be the one in the Crimean Area (German is Krim for Crimea). The Marienfeld should be the one in the Taurien Area just above the Crimean Area. So maybe the Rosalienfeld you are looking for is the one in the Crimean which was founded in 1908 and was a Lutheran village in 1941 there was 84 persons there.

Brian

Don't really know how this works, but I thought I'd ask you about the surname "Daitche". My last name is "Deitche". All that I know from my family's history is that my paternal Grandfather was born in the United States to a German father (presumed from his family coming from Germany). They lived for a period of time in New Jersey, and I know there are still Deitche's there. My Grandfather then moved to Chicago.

This is all the information I know, but I have been researching the name Deitche, and as stated before it was thought to come from Deutsche, but now it looks like Daitche is more likely.

Let me know if anything else is known about this name, thanks!
