PHILADELPHIA – Katharine Hodyk Styn, born in Stefkova, Ukraine, passed away at age 92, on May 2, 2012, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania surrounded by her family.

She lived most of her life in Campbell, Ohio with her husband, Mykola Styn, choir conductor of several area churches (deceased in 1999), and five daughters.

She arrived in the United States in 1948 after the war and became a member of the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church in Youngstown, Ohio and of the church choir.

She is survived by daughters Oksana Winter of Detroit, Michigan, Orysia Hewka and Marusia Dombchewsky, both of Philadelphia, Marta Nadia Charnick of Monongahela, Pa., and Yaroslava (Lalia) Lonchyna of Silver Spring, Md.; as well as 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters in the Ukraine; and numerous nephews and nieces in the United States and Ukraine.

On May 5, 2012, following Divine Liturgy celebrated by son-in-law Rev. Taras Lonchyna, Katharine was laid to rest at Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery in King of Prussia, Pa., outside of Philadelphia.
