Chris: I hope you are still online. I just came across your posting. I am an American, currently living in Italy, writing a book on my genealogy. Briefly, I was given up for adoption to an American couple by a Canadian woman named Gwendolyn Bakun from Vancouver, B.C. I am now researching the Bakun family (along with the Dlugosz family, her mother's side). I have quite a few names and dates.
My grandfather, Theodor Bakun, immigrated to Calgary, Alberta, Canada in 1912. He left behind a daughter from his first marriage which ended in the death of his wife. I visited Kuty and Rozwaz back in April and May and met cousins, one of whom is 80 and still lives in Kuty. The rest are in Lviv and they are thrilled to have another relative.
I would dearly love to communicate with you. I understand an Anna Kipran was possibly a sister to my grandfather, Theodore. That would make her my great-aunt. Hope to hear from you.
By the way, we do have Turkish origins, according to the parish priest in Kuty.
