I have found some info as to origins of the name Momot. This name is derived from ancient Slav language and literally translates as "Young". First reference to this name is found in Novgorod records dating 1150(?). I have also noticed that people with this last name are mostly referenced to Poland, with former USSR republics coming close second. Interestingly enough, after analyzing pictures of Momots available on-line, I came to a generalization (right or wrong) that many seem to have darker hair and skin tone. If Momot family origins can be traced to Poland, then I would imagine the specific area to be Silezia, or Tatri/Carpathian region where people are darker.
