Most of my Russian family lived in Talne in the nineteenth century.
It appears that the Gorodetskys were rabbis. Boutelkoff was a Talmudic scholar and spiritual leader.
Perhaps they were involved in the development of Hasidism--I would guess that is right.
The Polevoys owned a small general store. The bartered with peasants.
my great great grandmother was Tuba Gorodetskaya
her first husband was Norman Grossman (Uman)
her second husband was Boutelkoff
she had three children--Ariel Grossman, Sonya Boutelkoff, and Anna Boutelkoff
my great grandmother was Olga (Dora) Polevoy
she had the following siblings: Isadora, Abraham, Samuel, Fanny and Morris
Her father was Isaac Polevoy
I have done a great deal of research, but have found little support from Jewish research institutions.
I would like to be in touch with other families from Talne.
I am working on a visual archive of nineteenth century photos.
Regards,
Rachel Grossman
