My Grandfather Peter Smashnuk was born in Bukowina Romania/Austria in 1889 and left for Canada in 1911. He settled in Andrew Alberta, Canada where he worked for Bill Frunchak (who had earlier emigrated from the same small village near the Russian border). My Grandfather Peter married Bills daughter Elena Frunchak and my own Father Nicholas Smashnuk was their eldest son in a family of 11 kids.

I am trying to find any relatives of either the Smashnuk or Frunchak family surviving in Europe. The names perhaps suffer poorly the English translation though I could not recognize the Ukranian or Romanian equivalent.
