As I know Penzes Elisabeth is birth on 18 oct 1863 in Turterebes. Her father was Janos, mother Julianna. The marriage was in 1887. The register starts from 1835.

Yes, they were Greek Catholic, and it appears most of them were married and baptized in the M. Sziget Egyhaz in Szarazberek.

There is another problem. There are more Bere actually in Romania:
Bere (hungarian name) - Berea (romanian name) affiliate to Sanislau in Satu Mare County
Bere-Székelybere (hungarian name) - Bereni (romanian name) affiliate to Magherani in Mures County.

My Grandparents where affiliated with The Hungarian Reformed Church in NJ. I don't know if they have that denomination in Hungary or it would have been an Orthodox church. The only things I have related to church and religion are from the Church in NJ.

That may have been my grandmother's home. The house was built on a hill on High Street two doors down from the High Street bridge. The railroad tracks ran underneath the bridge. The house has since been torn down and now is a vacant yard. Since we last communicated my Mom died in November of 2011.

She had a daughter who stayed in Romania Julia Rigan, who had a son Arpad, who had a daughter Adela. She had two more children in Canada, Mary who married Steve Lamos a doctor and Alex.

I'am the sohn of Mieczysław Wirth and Maria Wirth. Born 09.09.1953 in Przemyśl (Poland). I live still in Poland.

My father Mieczysław Wirth (dead 01.02.2002, born in 1909) was the sohn of Johann Wirth born 01.09.1882 in Radautz-Satulmare 63 (Osterreich's Land Bukovina, now Romania) and Antonina Dembek born 02.10.1887 in Niżankowice nearby Przemyśl (daughter of Hieronim and Rozalia Stoczko).

Johan Wirth was the sohn of ( the second) Johann Wirth and Kristine Gattinger - daughter of Josef Gattinger and Kristine Gunter.

Heinrich was the brother of this (second) Johann Wirth.

Heinrich and this (second) Johann (and perhaps someone else) was a children of Jacob Wirth and Rosina Schewitzky living in Satulmare.

Could there be some kind of my fault with this both Johanns?

I believe that the odds are very good that we are talking the same family.
There is another possible connection as my grandfather was first married to Flora Dragos born 1881 in Szatmar Batiz which is now known in Romania as Botiz Satu Mare. Maria Lakatos, who married my grandfather's cousin, Ferenc
Gaspar, was born 1875 in Szatmar Udvari which is now Odoreu Satu Mare and only a few km from Botiz (Batiz). Both towns are quite small so everyone with the same surname are most likely related. In fact, I have several relatives from Batiz whose spouses were from Udvari. I am planning a trip to Batiz and Udvari in the spring to do some geneology research and will keep you family names in mind. Please let me know anything else you may find out that could indicate a possible connection.

my grand mother Iuliana Lakatos I don't know her husbands name, my mother christena lakatos she also has a sister unkown name. my mother's husband/cousin called gyuri he also has a brother unkown again. they bother had 9 children toeghter, he also has a daughter called maria lakatos but her mother is unknown.

they have lived in satu-mare or around that area since the second world war.

His arrival manifest would have his precise place of birth.
If he was naturalized citizen then his intent & petition will have a place of birth. His church marriage record and state marriage application should also have a place of birth. You can also request his SS-5Form as it too should have a place of birth and parents names.

Nem vagyok biztos, ha kapcsolódnak. Még mindig rokonok Turterebes de egyikük sem rendelkezik a Bauer vezetéknév. Nagyanyám volt egy bátyja nevű Andrew, aki született talán 1900. I'm trying to locate family members in Satu-Mare. First I need to know what this last name is... My grandfather was supposed to be born in Satu-Mare in 1902 and than immigrated to the US. When he immigrated they changed his name to Rose. I have a picture but I cannot quite make out the last name. I have attached the photo to this message. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

You can read the Scheindorf book in English at www.scheindorf.de. Just click on the American flag and you will have it. My mother, who was born in Scheindorf, translated the book in 1997, and I typed it up. Scheindorf is 4 miles from Hamroth. There were many marriages between people from both towns. I have Brendli relatives who settled in New Jersey. The Scheindorf web site is run by Rudolf Gieger, who lives in Germany.

Hi. My mother's family was part of the German community in Hamroth (Unterhamroth to them) until they evacuated ahead of the advancing German Army at the end of WWII. Given their refugee status, I have relatively little information beyond my grandparent's generation. Are there any Holzli's or Fuegal's in your trees? (Anyone have a picture or two of Hamroth they wouldn't mind sharing?)

My great grandmother's name was Mary or Maria Brendli. She was married to Andrew Piszel the lived in the County of Satu Mare when it was part of Hungary. She had 13 children. Lived in Erdod. One daughter, my grandmother, Margaret Mary Piszel lived in the US from about 1920 on. Brendli caught my attention ???

My maternal grandparents were born in Turterebes (Gabri Mihaly 1890-1963 & Bauer Julianna 1894-1988). My renewed research over the past year has brought me in contact with several others with Terebes ancestry.

I just received a picture of a couple who lived in Buffalo, NY. Their names: Schwartzkopf Balazs and his wife, Lena. Perhaps there is a connection? To my knowledge, I am not directly related to this couple but who knows!

In reading some of your other e-mails in this thread, I will be requesting the Ugocsa census microfilm shortly. I had not realized that it even existed even though I've made several trips to the local LDS FHC.

I have not yet made a trip to Hungary and Romania but am hoping to do so very soon. I've heard that gaining access to the older Hungarian church records in the Satu Mare archives is difficult. Do you know of anyone with experience with this? Do you know how far back these church records go?

Any other suggestions for conducting research of villagers from Turterebes would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for posting the info on the Ugosca census - my g-grandmother Etel KLEIN was born in Tur Terebes in 1885 and I haven't gotten past her parents, of whom I know very little (except that they were Jakob KLEIN and Betti FISCHER). Thanks again!
