Hello! I was doing a bit of informal research and just ran across this post (from almost 10 years ago, it seems!) about the Svarcskopf family from Turterebes (now Romania). I would be extremely interested if you have any information to share. My maternal great-grandmother, whose name was Magdalena Svarcskopf, immigrated from Turterebes to NY in 1923 (according to the immigration/ship record). It appears that she came to the US alone, and married a man named Steven Szelmanci (changed to Selmants here). I think that they may have known each other in Europe. My grandmother was one of their 5 children, but the parents died of TB when she was a child and no one in my family knows much about our Hungarian heritage at all...
Thanks in advance for ANY info about them that you might be able to provide! I believe that her mother's name may have been Gertrud, and Magdalena was born about 1901.
