I am Mark Jenei from Watertown, Wisconsin, USA. I have been searching for Jenei's on the internet and would some day like to find something about my Grandfathers brother Andres who was born in Austria-Hungary around 1880's or1890Â’s or so.

According to Family History:
My Grandfathers brother Andres was a Hussar (Hungarian Cavalary Officer) and my grandfather being the second son was studing to be a priest. He supposoly met my grandmother at another families house, fell in love.
Since in those days the women of even well off families turned the women away for work, grandma was working as a maid in anothers family home. My grandmother had ben promised in marriage to a well known families son.
My grandfather decided to have a state authorized duel with this gentleman for my grandmother hand in marriage and won.
After the duel my grandparents were married had two daughters and moved around the Transylvania portion of Austria-Hungary (Now part of Romania )and were constantly hounded by the losing sons family of the duel even though it was a state authorized duel.
In 1911 my grandfather came to America to see what it was about. He may have put money down on a farm outside of Alliance, Ohio. He returned to Austria-Hungary to bring the family over but due to my grandmother being pregnant with my aunt Elizebeth they gave up their tickets. It is rumored that they may have had tickets on the Titanic that sank April, 1912.
When they left Austria-Hungary they left behind their daughter Elizabeth possibly due to chickenpox, smallpox, mumps or one of the childhood diseases of the time. They brought their other daughters Katie and Helen with them to America. My grandfathers sister Mary Bara and her husband were on the same ship and settled in Alliance, Ohio.
I have found and recorded addresses for almost 400 Jenei's of the World in my search so far, I know that there are close to 1000 Jenei's in Hungary but have not figured out the phone book listing yet. I would love to hear back from you with information about your family, children, parents and grandparents so I can add it to my list. I would be glad to send my list to you if you are interested.
Thank you and I hope to hear from you soon.
