Hello Janos,

Thank you for your reply. I do have some more information on my family. Here is a link to my family tree that I have so far online...there are 35 people in there so far:
http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/2686257/person

--------

I will gladly share any information
that I have regarding my family. My great-grandmother's name was Erzsebet Lakatos Csikszent-Simoni (there may be some slight variation of the spelling of this name such as Csik-szent Simonyi, etc.) She was born in 1901. Her
fathers first name was Janos, but I do not have a birthdate for him, perhaps it could have been in the 1880's, just according to his daughters birthdate. They were catholic. Here is some text from Dr. Borovszky, perhaps this
might help.

Borovszky says:
> "Lakatos. (Csik-Szent-Simoni.) L. Miklós 1606-ban nyert czímeres nemeslevelet Bocskay István fejedelemtõl, mely 1612-ben Csik-Gyergyón, 1631-ben Bihar vármegyében hirdettetett ki. A család nemessége 1742-ben
Bihar vármegyében újólag elismertetett Széplakon, Száldobágyon, Sarkad-Keresztúron birt földesúri joggal, ezenfelül a Szilágyságban és Közép-Szolnok vármegyében is birtokos volt. Tagjai közül: László (1730) contractionalis tanácsos. Ferencz (1820) szolgabíró Bihar vármegyében.
Imre a XIX. század elején a váradi járás fõszolgabirája. János 1848-ban és 1861-ben szolgabíró. Czímer: kékben, zöld alapon, felemelt jobbjában buzogányt tartó oroszlán.
Sisakdísz: kinövõ paizsalak. Takarók: kékarany–veresezüst."

I am sending some files to your yahoo address, since there are too many to send from this website. Thank you in advance for your help! Also, please feel free to email me at melg_1981@yahoo.com ---

Kind Regards, Melanie Gallo

Dear Scott,
As it posted on ellisisland.org site, Janos and Anna arrived in America on May 29, 1912. He was 8 and Anna 1 and half years. They were going to Colombus, OH, to their father Janos Csomor - who arrived in 1902(?). The site mention also their father arrived, in 1903, at his 29 years. At home, in Bogoz, the closest relative "remain" their uncle Sandor Csomor.
If you wish, I am able to put you in contact with John Csomor, who live there and few year ago made some trips to Bogoz area.
If you have something to translate, please scan them and send it to kocs_at_rdsbv_dot_ro
Janos - from Transylvania

These families are from Mujna (formerly Székelymuzsna) and emigrated to New Castle, Pennsylvania. Bara Layos (b. 1877) and Mati Rebeka (b. 1881) arrived in the US in 1904. I am searching for information on their parents.

Bara Layos mother was Soch Lidia. I do not know his father's name. But it is likely that both were born in Mujna/Székelymuzsna.

Mati Rebeka's parents were Mati Daniel and Kerestly Anna. And these two were likely born in Mujna/Székelymuzsna as well.

I also know that there are some Zoltanis that are related, but I am unsure of their relationship.

I'd appreciate any help anyone can provide.

Hi,

I found these people on the Ellis island database, but the manifest shows them to be from Békes. I'm curious why you posted on the Hargita board (is there a Békes in Hargita also?)

Beth Long

Re: Looking for Relatives Csato

The Csato surname is common in the Szekely Land (Terra Siculorum). Csatoszeg (nou Catatuia is Romanian) is a village, about 20 km far from Csikszereda. Almost in every village is a Csato, and I'm quite sure that they are in Csatoszeg too. In the late December I'll be in that area, I'll ask about the Csato family.
Please write me a note later not to forget is.
Sorry for my bad English.
Tibor Russu

My Great Grandmother, Terez Csato was born in 1875 in Csik-Csatoszeg, Csik megye (now called Miercurea-Ciuc, Romania and Csíkszereda in Hungarian). She married my Grandfather Valko Janos in Budapest in 1899 and came to America in 1905. Her mother was also Terez Csato and came from the same town. Her father's name is unknown. I am looking for any information on the Csato family, the town she was from and any family members still living in this area.
