Hello!!
I haven't visited this for so long hence a late reply I suppose!!
The family tree is posted on Kefalonia roots website or familysearch.org it should come up just typing in your own family names or mine.
I have my paternal mothers side Iani Anastasiu wed to Maria Nicolaou <1907> Smardan (b 1890 Smardan d1962). Her parents were Neculai Neculai b Brasov <1849-1917> & wife Marica, wed about 1888 Stancuta.
The double named Neculai Neculai (or Nicolau) hints at the fact that his name was actually Nicholas (or variations) & he was not a native of Romania. When you took Ro citizenship it was required that you have your original surname replaced and your name became your christian name repeated twice.
Thats all I have
Hope it is some help.
The Gheorghiu side of it is also a nightmare mystery.
They were Greeks fom Kefalonia, but some earlier generations must have taken Ro citizenship & foregone what we think is the original Tzaklis name. It was done for equal rights of trade in Romania.
My grandfather changed his surname name to Tzaklis about 1932.
