You can research conscriptions and censuses that are free and online via Hungarian national archives website Urbaria et Conscriptiones. :
http://mol.arcanum.hu/urbarium/opt/a101112.htm?v=pdf&a=s...I attached to this message a snapshot from these censuses listing one head of the household ALEKSA SOLAROV, year 1798. village of BOČAR, Serbia, Banat region.
For those of you researching any ethnic Serbian families from Banat area your best online resource and starting point for confirming where the family lived in second half of XIX and first half of XX century is Serbian Trade Association Privrednik database :
http://www.rodoslovlje.com/documentation/serbian-trade-assoc...Here are SOLAROV shop and business owners found in its records:
http://baza.privrednik.net/privrednik.php?find=Solarov&f...And here are RANKOV :
http://baza.privrednik.net/privrednik.php?find=RANKOV&fi...You need to establish the exact village of origin for both of your ancestors with these surnames to be able to proceed - have you obtained naturalization records or ship manifests? From what I can see neither family is from the area of GALATI,Romania.
SOLAROV either emigrated from ELEMIR town area or from KUMANE village which is in the same parishes where the BOČAR village branch of the family lived.
Vital records exist, are complete and available to public if older than 100 years.
Both church vital records and civil vial records ( for people born appr. after 1860) will have information on your ancestors, but you can only research them on location in historical archives in Serbia and with the help of Serbian Orthodox Church in their parish temples and church archives of the eparchies. Nothing is available online.
