Hello
I recently started looking into my grandfather's past in Macedonia. He was born and lived in Vitoliste from around 1900 to early 1920s. According to a family friend his original name was Boyo Batanchievski(y). However, I couldn't find any resources showing that first name to be Macedonian.
I also recently uncovered a famous Macedonian who has a similar name as my grandfather. His name is Christo Batandziev. I found a lot of information about him online and his role in revolution during the early 1900s.
I have a few questions:
First, is Boyo a possible first name in Macedonia? Would that be short for another name?
Second, does anyone know family information about this Christo Batandziev? I'd like to know how if at all he is related to my grandfather.
Third, does anyone have ancestors from that village in Macedonia?
Thanks for all your help.
