Hello Robyn,
My gggrandfather was George Docos, originally Georgious Doikos, from Greece,
born about 1833. He came to Australia in the ship The Sea and jumped ship to
go to the goldfields. He had limited success in the goldfields and took up
farming. He married an Irish girl and they farmed in the Manildra NSW area.
They had 8 children. His first son was called William Nicholas and as
William is the name of his wife's father, I suspect that his own father may
have been Nicholas. He was a bad asthmatic, something he sent down the
genealogical line. He died in 1898 in Manildra. Some of the descendants
spelled the name DOCOS and some DOCAS.
