How difficult is it to find the names and phone numbers of the children or grandchildren of my great aunts and great uncles ? I ask because, I would then introduce myself properly and see if I can get some information about their grandparents.
The reason why I am taking this approach is that all my great-uncles and great-aunts were brothers and sisters of a family in Bursa, Turkey. We know nothing about this family, and I thought that the children or grandchildren might remember something that their gransparents said.
I already asked my relatives, but all they know is this:
1) one great-aunt went to Toumba, Thessaloniki
2) one great-aunt settled somewhere in Athens - don't know where
3) another great-aunt settled somewhere in Athens - don't know where, was a housewife and had a son called Leonidas who married Eleni
4) a great-uncle who settled in Kavala or maybe Ioannina - not sure. I called the Mitropolis of Kavala and Xanthis for marriage records, but the earliest they have is 1924 and 1929, respectively. I also called the Lixiarheio of Kavalas, the lady did a computer search but nothing turned up. I also called the Lixiarheio of Ioannina, the lady did a computer search of the marriage records and the Mitroon Arennon, nothing. I'm guessing the marriage should have taken place in the 1910s or early 1920s. I also called the Mitropolis of Ioannina, but they have nothing on computer; one has to go over there and look through several books.
Are there any other sources of information that I could consult, other than the Lixiarheio or the Mitropolis ?
Thanks for your time
