My family like many Greek American families came from both Greece and Turkey.

I learned that my family had been expelled off the Island of Marmara and Galimi in 1923.
Before that year and after that time. My grandfather and some of his family came to the United States; while others went to Greece and other parts of the world.

I know very little on my Greek, Orodox grandpa, but I do have some names and am hoping someone out there will read this and something might click.

My grandpa was born May 18th 1895 in Galimi. He came to the U.S.in about th 1900 early to middle. His father was Panogioti. He

worked the fields. He had a nick name of woodu. His mother was Pelyis or Pelgia.

I think Pangioti had family. We were told two of his brothers names were Vasilios and Andrew. Andrew was known as a good diver and dived off the Island Of Koutali

My grandpas name is Greek was Anastision Panaiuiotes and in American Anest Peters. He had brought with him a brother namesd Hidimenos. Who came to Washington State and later we think moved onto Wisconsin?/


All I know about the family is they were skilled singers, and musicans and as many Greeks or Greeks in Turkey were very entertaining .

The only other name that I heard about was a George not sure if this was my grandpa's brother or my great grandfathers brother.
