Translation of Katica Sulentic's message.

Hi dear family, I accidentally saw this notice on the Internet and wish to tell you that I am a descendant of Karlo and Mate Prpic. My grandfather was Mate Prpic son of Pavao and Kata, and Martin was his grandfather and his great-grandfather was Karlo.
Mate had three daughters--Manda, Ika and Katica. I am the daughter of Ika (deceased); Manda, and Katica are living in Canada (Edmonton). I do not know exactly who you are, so let me know. We have inherited my son Tomislav's old house where they were all born. In the war [the Homeland War 1991-1995] everything was destroyed and we have little to recover. I live in Velika Gorica near Zagreb. Let me know so we can get better acquainted. I'm sorry I do not know English, so I'm writing in Croatian, hoping that somebody will translate for me. Accept warm greetings from your relatives and from your lovely Croatia. Contact: Katica Sulentic!
Karlo Prpic
Martin Prpic
Pavao & Kata Prpic
Mate Prpic
Ika, Manda & Katica Prpic
Kata Prpic daughter o Ika, married Sulentic

Georgia, I can't find anything other than Ellis island doc on my grandfather, he married Willie Mae Renka not sure of her maidan name and for some reason my grandmother never put my grandfathers name on any docs, all that was on them was my uncle and aunts. I also can't find any info on my dad. Such as his birth certificate. My grandfather died a month before my dad was born in 1944. My dad is still alive but doesn't know much about his dad, and he has no contact with his sisters or brothers so I've never met any of them.

I wonder if we may have a connection... Catherine Renka immigrated to America along with her three children. She was married to Frank Renka who died while they were still living in Croatia. Catherine's maiden name was Adlesic, however, from my accounts of family interviews, I was given the name of "Blaz" as a family member of Catherine's (this would of been a brother-in-law?). I am wondering if the Frank Renka who immigrated with Blaz would have been the uncle of my Frank Renka as well? Where did your family migrate to once they arrived in the states?

The uncles name was Frank Renka. my grandfather was 18 when he came over, and Frank was 37. they both came over at the same time on November 2nd, 1907. my great grandfathers name was ANTE Renka but he didn't come over to America. Does this all come together on your side? I would love to know more about my family.

He was the son of Frane Saric of what is now Lovinac district, Lika-Senj, Croatia.
Little Tony was buried in St. Marks Cemetery, Granite City, Madison, Illinois and John was buried in nearby Edwardsville, probably in the Catholic cemetery there.

But if you look at some of the others this column was often used to record deaths and place of death. Often times deaths in America would be noted in this column In the case of the second person on this page her marriage in 1917 was noted in this column

The State Archives in Zagreb may have more extensive records for this parish, as the Family Search web page has only a fraction of all available records. Each year during our Heritage Tour we visit the archives and have found many more records there.

Robert Jerin
Croatian Heritage Museum
Cleveland Ohio

I suggest you register for the Kalocsa diocese Roman Catholic Church e-archive and research your ancestors original vital records online.

That will solve many of the dilemmas you have had, including the one on the original spelling of your grandmother's surname and her origin.

Attached here is the original birth and baptism record for IVAN PATARIĆ, year 1889., Bački Monoštor, (then) Austria-Hungary, (now) Serbia.

Parents are listed as Antonius Patarics and Maria Csizmar. (Their first names and surnames are written in combination of Latin and Hungarian language ( Joannes for Ivan is from Latin , and *cs* instead of *ć* or *č* is from Hungarian).

The ship manifests of non-Hungarians from Austria-Hungary who emigrated until 1919. featured their original first names replaced by the Hungarian ones - that is why Ivan showed up in them as János.

More on this e-archive and how to register with them you can read here:

http://www.rodoslovlje.com/forum/vojvodina/kalocsa-roman-cat...

and here:

http://boards.ancestry.com/localities.eeurope.yugoslavia.voj...

If you have any questions or need more help please post to Yugoslavia General board:

http://boards.ancestry.com/localities.eeurope.yugoslavia.gen...

Google search for surname+location shows many Patarićs still living in Bački Monoštor today - try to look for relatives who could help you with your research - best if you try to contact them via facebook :

http://www.google.hu/#output=search&sclient=psy-ab&q...

-att: original birth and baptism record of your grandfather, obtained via Kalocsa diocese e-archive

***

"Rodoslovlje" Serbian Genealogy Society
www.rodoslovlje.com

Hey there! It has been a while!

Sadly, no.

Emil's son visited Croatia several years ago and visited the church in Pokupsko. He found a birth record for Vinko in 1883 that listed brothers of Tomo & Miko and Tomo & Bara as parents. I have tried to find the same record in the on-line pictures of the many Croation church record books, but I have a difficult time reading both the headings and the handwriting.

If I remember correctly, you were looking for information on your mother. Did you find what you were looking for?
