Hi all,
I need some technical help as my search has landed in a seemingly dead-end. Some of my ancestors came from Croatia to Vienna in the mid 1800s. The villages were Kupinec and Bratina south of Zagreb. I did did find parish registers at the Last Days Saints Church in Utah, and I could find the marriage of the above-mentioned Mathias Laczkovich with Helena Graczky in 1804 and Helena's death in 1821. Helena died at 40 so I guess that Mathias is probably born between 1770 and 1780. From later records of their descendants in Vienna it can be seen that he was a blacksmith.
Only the parish registers of marriages and deaths seem to be preserved and I could not find references to births. The marriage record contains only the name of the father of the bride Nicolai Graczky - otherwise I did not find any cross-references.
Who knows what other registers are available for that time in the said area that possibly give further insight: military registrations, census, tax records, etc.?
Thanks and best regards,
Roman Laczkovich
