Looking for more information about Pani Dimitrov - left to the US in 1907

My name is Stefan. I am writing you this message from Bulgaria, trying to find more information about my ancestor, who has emmigrated to the United States in the beginning of 20th century.

My grand-uncle name is Pani Dimitrov, but I have encountered the alternative spellings Pani Dimitroff, Paul Dimitroff, Pani Dimotroff and Pani Dmitrov. He is white, male and 30 years old in 1907, which is believed to be the year of his immigration to the USA. The year of birth should be either 1876 or 1877. During my online research at the Ellis Island Foundation I was able to find the manifest of alien passengers for the U.S. immigration officer at port of arrival, which includes the name of Pani Dimitrov. The name of the ship is “Blucher”, sailing from Hamburg (Germany) on April 24th 1907 and arriving at New York City on May 7th 1907. His co-travelers are Dan Koinoff, Marin Mincoff and Ivan Zortoff. All four come from the village of Gagalia (alternative: Gagalya), District of Ruse, Bulgaria. This small villager no longer exists and currently it is part of the village of Nikolovo. The traveling destination is Huron (Ohio, would be my guess) where resides the friend Ivan Uzineff (his address is stated to be just “Box 366”).

During the United States Census of 1910 there is another track of Pani Dimotroff, who I believe to be my grand-uncle Pani Dimitrov. His residence is located at Superior Ward 10, Douglas, Wisconsin – it is supposed to be a boarding house. The census information points that the occupation of Pani Dimitrov is railroad worker. His marital status is “married”. From the other hand, the year of immigration is stated to be 1909 and this does not match the mention before year of immigration (1907). However, the age of the person seems to be right (34 years old in 1910). My grand uncle is not included in any further census documentations.

Pani Dimitrov has left in Bulgaria one daughter, born on January 7th 1906, passed away on January 20th 1982.

I turned to the Douglas County Historical Society (DCHS) for help, but its volunteer could not make any further steps.

I will really appreciate any information about the following: Finding personal information about Pani Dimitrov such as another marriage, death record etc. Finding information about his relatives – spouse, children, others if any…

I am trying to find out a little more about the Gebaroff family history. Legend has it that our great grandfather came over from Bulgaria during the war with a russian prince who was seeking asylum. Im not clear on where they landed or if they even made it. I remember this story from my father Sandy Gebaroff and was told by my grandfather Eldon Gebaroff. I would like all of the information I could get due to a paper my son Colton is writing about his grandfathers. Please contact me with anything you have. Kuan Gebaroff

Andreew Gebaroff was my grandfather. I have three sisters and we grew up across the street from his home and small farm her in Seattle. He was married to Ara Jennings Gebaroff from Wisconsin. They had six children (3 boys and 3 girls). My father (Elden S. Gebaroff) was one of thier sons. There are 2 children still living (girls). Andrew and Ara were both teachers. He taught at Western Washington University (which my niece and nephew now attend), and later at a public school in Seattle (I work two block from that school.) He also had a flower farm on his property where my I and my sisters and cousins were frequently found. My father built a housse on a piece of his property and my mother still resides there. I know little about his life in Bulgaria and wish I knew more. I think he left there at age 16. I know he left for the purpose of becoming educated. Who are your parents and grandparents. How are you related to my family? Is there anything else I can tell you?

Hi Everybody, I just want to tell you of my family web site. There are many old photos of family & friends from 1897 to the 1970s. There are also stories written by my grandfather growing up in Bulgaria, immigrating to America and more. You will also find genealogy charts, Family history reports and what ever else I can't remember. The URL is http://members.home.net/jcrn/ I hope you enjoy it.

I am searching for anyone with the last name of Valadsji..maybe the name has changed with the way it is pronounced such as Valadji or Valadzhi. My mother comes from Russe, her mother's name was Francessca. There were three uncles, Oscar, Henry, and Rudy. My mother was baptised in the Catholic church St. Paul of the Cross in Russe, her grandparents Valadsji's died in 1932 and 1933, they are buried in a catholic cemetary in Russe.
