Hi Alex,
I am researching my family history and am looking for ANY information on Dr. S Manoloff, Vladimir S Manoloff, Jean N. Shavankova (nee Manaloff). At one time (about 1910) of Boulevarde Paskaloff, No.40 Sofiya Bulgaria.
Dr S Manoloff was married to Christina (nee BURTHOLME) from England. I understand they had at least 4 children ...Vladimir; Emmanuelle, Jean N. George B. These children were born between about 1898 and 1910. I think Vladimir Manoloff went to the United States in 1932.
Hopefully by now you have found something about your ancestors. When investigating Bulgarian records, try looking for the last name Vurbov, Varbov, Vurbev, Varvev. There are no last names that end on -f.

I seem to have such a dead end in my geneological research....no name
for the Germanic/possible also Russian origins. I feel I have to just
keep posting in Germanic research areas until something clicks. This
is all I have:

Schwarz family or Schwartz or formerly longer?
Andrew or (Andrea) m. Carolina Magdelina Steiner (Stirn or Weiny)

Must have arrived US or at least in Iowa 1860's cuz not on earlier
census

Children:
Mike, Wilhelmina Augustina, George (1868-1874) Magdelina (1869)
Catherina Maria and Ludovica Magdelina (1871, twins), and John Peter
(1873)

Andrew remarried Catherine Steiner (Katharina Sweeny?)
Children:
Lidy (Caroline) Rosina (1875) my grandmother
William and Anna Barbara

(unsure if related: cuz Father is listed as Frederick Schwartz and
Katharina Seeny..) Jacob (1878)

Dated records from Catholic Church in Lansing Iowa, originally in
Latin, translated. Allamakee county Iowa.

I know only that there are Germanic origins, Russian. Andrew was
supposedly in the German servide and died in it.so must have returned
to Germany? No documentation other than these baptismal records and a
gravestone for George.

Not listed in 1850 or 1860 Allamakee county census.

Later the family (after death of father?) must have relocated to
Minneapolis MN, that is where my grandmother married her husband
George Waters. And I met her sisters Mary and Louise (twins
americanized) and Barb and Lena as a child.

Val Waters

I am from Nashville TN. Originally raised in Mpls.
