my grandfathers name was peter christoff or krisztos. he too was from bulgaria and came over on a boat that docked on ellis island. he married a woman named mary dietrich or diduch. however on a birth cert. from one of the children her last name was gidoh.so i really don't know where to start. i do know that a brother came over with him and a sister of hers came over. her name was anna or anne. i don't know if there was a connection or not but i would like any other info you might have. thanks, giorgia

I want to locate my grandfather's family in Bulgaria. His name was Grozdan Vascelle Christoff, born in 1894 in or around Lovech. He purchased a farm around Lovech in 1905 and worked it for 4 years. He left Bulgaria at age 15 years and arrived in the United States in 1909 at Ellis Island. One of his brothers purchased the farm from him a few years later. I think his mother's name was Mary and she died in 1895 and his father died around 1908. He had a nephew named Christo Minchev Donchev who had 2 children and lived in Ditchin and operated heavy machinery. Another nephew (the first nephew's brother) worked at the cooperative union and had a daughter named Milka that had heart trouble. I have been told that Grozdan Vascelle Christoff's father's family name may have been Bugdonoff although this may not be correct. Thank you for any assistance.

Ilija was born around 1860 and died in 1959 around the village of Katunets in the region of Lovech. He was married to a woman named Marijah, then to a second wife later named Valkana who had a daughter named Mitka.
