Malkin Family

I'm looking for information about the Malkin/a family from Mohilyow. I only know of two brothers: Joseph and Rafael, who came over to the US together in 1906 and then parted ways. I am looking specifically for Rafael's side, or anything about their family back in Belarus.

Thank you!

Re: Lewin/Levin Near Vetka

These last names sound Jewish. Have you checked on Jewish Gen? They have lots of records, some of which might be for your ancestors.

Lewin/Levin Near Vetka

I am looking for any possible leads regarding the Levin family that lived in Vetka (small town northeast of Gomel) prior to the 1870's. My great-great-great grandfather was born in Vetka in the mid 1850's. His name was Eliezer Lipman "Lipa" Levin. His father's name was Schneur Zalman Levin. Schneur Zalman died sometime before 1874.

Eliezer Lipman Levin married someone named Henye (maiden name unknown) in about 1873, and moved to Novozybkov, which was in Chernigov Guberniya at the time.

He had cousins in Gomel who had the last name Burchuk/Burchyk.

The Levin family (Lipa, Henye, and seven children) moved a few at a time from Novozybkov to Philadelphia between 1905-1906.

If anyone has any information regarding any Levins living in the area around Vetka and Gomel, I would appreciate it.

Bobruskin/-sky - Kreinin family from Homel/Mohilev?

Most records say Homel, occasional records say Mohilev.
Looking for information about, and descendants of, this family. I have copies of these two photos (taken in NY), of Boris and of Hasya (Chasie/Jessie) BOBRUSKIN/BOBRUSKY, to offer to descendants; I am wondering why MY grandparents had these photos? Were they related? I believe Hasya was the daughter of Joseph and Sadie (Wertheim) KREININ.

Tileshevsky from Cherykaw, Mahilyow voblast??

My paternal grandparents were Jews born (as far as we know) in "Russia" - what is now Belarus. Here is what we know:

Anna (Chene) Tileshevskaya, b. about 1880 in Cherykaw
Abraham (Avram) Shechter, b. about 1877 in Homiel, by profession a tailor

Both were Jewish. I believe they married before leaving Russia but am not sure. Chene left first, with a choir that went to sing for the Queen of England. When the choir returned, she did not. Abraham joined her later in England. I believe they left Russia in 1902 or 1903. Their first child, a daughter, was born in England. In June of 1905 Abraham left for Philadelphia; in January of 1906 Anna and Naomi (Chene and Nechame) joined him there. I have the ship records for all of them, both leaving from England and arriving in the U.S.

Looking for Samovsky/Shamovsky/Schamovsky relatives

I am looking for Yankel, Ayzik and David Shamovsky. Yankel and Ayzik are my grandmother's uncles. They were born in Mogilew, Belarus in 1870th - 1880th and moved to the USA in early 1900th. David is my grandmother's cousin. He was born in 1910th in Mogilew, Belarus or Novosibirsk, Russia and moved to the USA in 1930th. All of them had last name Shamovsky (possible spellings are Shamowsky/ Samovsky/ Schamowsky). Most likely all of them lived in Chicago area. I guess they changed their last names in the USA. If you know anything about them, please, let me know.
