My grandfather was born 12/12 - but the year isn't certain, because he lied about his age to join the US Army during WWI. I've found 3 different birth years - 1895, 1896 and 1898. On his military records his birth year is 1895, the census has his year of birth 1896 and the marriage certificate has him born 1898. I've been told he came over as a young boy by himself on a boat, as his family's land and possessions were being taken by Communists and they wanted him to be safe. I was told he came in through NY, but he settled in Massachusetts. He listed on his WWII draft card that he was from the Balkan area of Albania. He was illiterate. On his death certificate his father was listed as Thomas Joseph and his mother was listed as Yani Prifi.

If you know how I can look up more information about families in Albania I would greatly appreciate it. I did a lot of searching on this site already and had found some information, so I'm looking for other sites. Thank you
