I have found new information on the Cualio's that immigrated to Guatemala. Supposedly an influx of Europeans immigrated to Guatemala between-1878-1800 the time in which My great-great grandmother, Teresa Cualio, and her family immigrated to Guatemala from Italy also. Her father was named Domingo Cualio Montanana and wife Rosaura Gati Lungi. They had three children, Teresa (my g.g grandmother), Maria Luisa and Arturo. I believe they may had had a fourth child named Secundina...but I'm not sure. From stories it was said that when asked why they left their country they told of economic and political problems that their country was having,
They arrived on boat with other families and it is said that initially they were planning to arrive to either U.S or Brazil....but their boat was experiencing problems.
If anyone has any information about the immigration of Italians to Guatemala or finds these names familiar please respond back. Also if anyone has any information on the origin of any these surnames, like region they originated etc please respond back. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
