Hello
I have traced my family to the early 1700's in Gbely. I have 40 something names related by marriage including Petras and Rozboril. I have no Jurkas but I do have Juriga and Jurenya,All three have a common root;Juraj, which means George in English. George is derived from the root "geo" meaning earth....so Juriga, Jurenya, and your Jurka relate to someone who tends to the earth, as a farmer. I have gone through the 1869 Hungarian census for Gbely and am now in the middle of researching the Church records for St. Michaels, the Roman Catholic church of Gbely. I grew up in Binghamton in the Slovak neighborhood.

In Gbely the name was Koczich
