My greatgrandfather George Benko came from the town of Zalata and his family attended church in Bardejov. He was born 1/31/1887 to John Benko and Mary Hatala. George had 2 brothers Adam and John. There were also 2 half brothers and
a half sister. Goerge married Mary Folta in June of 1909 in
Braddock, PA in the U.S.. Mary's parents were John Folta and Mary Ontko. They had lived in the U.S., were Mary was born in 1887 but returned to Czechoslovakia (Austria-Hungary)when she was small. Mary's grandparents were John & Dorothy Folta and Martin & Katherine Ontko. George and Adam settled in the Fayette County area of Pennsylvania while Mary's siblings( Adam & Anna) that came to the U.S. settled in the state of Minnesota.
