Surnames: Perhacs, Perhacs, Petras
I am researching my husband's side and I am looking on the microfilm from Slovinki, Slovakia. In the early 1800's it appears that the surname is written Perhats and then toward the late 1820's or 30's it changes to Perhacs. Some surnames are still spelled with the "t" in Perhats but for the most part it changes to a "c" in Perhacs. Moreover, I believe that in the late 1850's I am seeing a Petras used instead of Perhats/Perhacs. I can't be certain this is the same woman but a Mathias Kropinyak and Maria Perhacs had children and then I am seeing what I believe to be the same couple with more children but her surname changes to Petras. Does anyone who is familiar with surnames from the Slovakia area know anything, can you give me any thoughts or further information on this?
