Napoleonic Marriage Translation Help - 1844 Gojsk

Attached is a marriage records from 1844. Could someone please confirm that the parents (Stanislaus Strus & Jadwiga Zgelnicki) of the woman being married (Marianna), are alive at the time of the marriage? I don’t see the word deceased relative to the parents’ names. Also it states that Marianna born in Turzy. I know Stanislaus was in Turza Wilcza, would Turzy be another form of this, or a separate village?
Thanks, Chip
Supposed Polish surname of Walfawhn

The name Walfawhn appears as a surname in the 1861 Census for London, stating that the person is of Polish extraction.

As far as I can tell, there is no such name in Poland, and its probably been "lost in translation" by the enumerator.

My question is, does anyone know what this name might really be ?

Thanks

Nigel.

Volozhin - Dolgoff/Dolgow

I have recently learned that my relatives from Savannah, GA were originally from Volozhin. The surname is Dolgoff and there is one that adapted Dolgow. There were three sisters and a brother that came and settled in Savannah. The sisters' names were Hannah/Chanah, Reisel and Bessie. There was a brother but I do not know what his name was. I also know that there were other relatives named Yosha who was married to another Hannah and they had a child, Shael/Saul. And there was a Max Dolgoff as well. If this sounds at all familiar to anyone, please email me at ericasf@msn.com

Thank you!

Help me find Ryszard Antczak

My great grandmother Jadwiga (who is still living) came to this country in 1930, and when she left with her brother she still had two sisters still living in Paczuski, Poland, Marja and Regina Pawlikowski.

Marja was born in 1907 and married some with the last name Antczak. They had a son named Ryszard/Richard Antczak in the 1930s. The last time my family corresponded with Marja was in 1998, she was 91, now she would be 101, so it is highly unlikely that she is still living. Her last address was:

Maria Antczak
Bukowiec-Duzy
13-111 Janowiec-Koscilny
Woj. Olsztywkie, Poland

I am trying to get in contact with her son Ryszard Antczak, but have no way of knowing how to do that. Does anyone know how? Regina would be 90 this year so it is possible that she is still alive as well.

Looking for relatives of my great-grandfather Piotr Olszewski

I am looking for anyone related to my great-grandfather Piotr Olszewski. I know that his father's name was August Olszewski and his mother's name was Eva Soblinska.

Piotr was born on 29 Jun 1883 and immigrated to the United States on Dec. 4, 1906 where he lived in Detroit, Mich until he died on 27 Aug 1958.

According to his Naturalization Papers, his previous residence was in Krubin, Poland. My mother remembers her grandfather sending boxes of clothes home to his family in the 40's. She said she did remember it was addressed to Poland but unfortunately no one seems to have my great-grandfather's information.

Would really like to find out if he had any brothers or sisters and if there are any cousins out there.

Judi Wydick of Michigan

I'm trying to find out if church records still exist for a church called "Matki Boskiej" or Blessed Virgin Mary in Cmolas, Poland. I'm hoping to find a baptismal record for Anna Veronica Koza, born April 2, 1867 and her marriage to Anthony Zietek around 1889. Their first two children may have been baptised there also - Julianna Zietek in February 1890 and Michal Zietek in September 1892.

Help! I need to find my grandpa's place of origin in Poland (or any of its original provinces) and exact parents' names. I know when my grandfather arrived from Poland, what his original name was, DOB, and his life here. Originally - Chester Kuszynski, arr. fall of 1901, to Chicago. The 1920 Census varifies 1901.
I have searched every possible variation of spelling and "sounds like" via Ellis Island the past few weeks. No one like that! I've even looked at others' passenger lists indepth to see if a 10-yr-old was aboard but didn't make it into the Ellis database. -time consuming, futile so far
I do not know his birth place, so cannot match other immigrants as possible relatives. Help! Where else can I search? Thanks, annyetta

I have been searching the Grelewicz family for over a year and I am at a dead end, no one seems to have heard that family. I recently received some contacts in Kielce, Poland, but they are distant relatives. If anyone has heard of this last name please let me know or any of the above surnames.

I would appreciate a transcription of the attached description of the Town of Zalozce in 1937. I tried the google transcription from Polish to English but it's so bad that I'm afraid I will end up with incorrect information.

If your interested in seeing the whole page it is at the following web site:
http://www.olejow.yoyo.pl/readarticle.php?article_id=93

I must warn you that it has many annoying pop ups.

I'd appreciate any help. Also if anyone else is interested in this town I'd like to share information. My e-mail address is (delete the spaces before & after the @) geokid @ gmal.com

Zurek Vs Dzyrwecka Vs Kupiec

I'm trying to determine which would be correct as a name or if they both are. Anna Dzyrwecka was the name given to me by relations as the great-great grandmother for my husband. Just recently I was able to find five birth records in a Roman Catholic Parish record listing her as the mother, but her name was Anna Zurek, and only her mother's name (Agnete Zurek) was listed where they listed her parents. The name was the same on the marriage record I found for her. I also managed to find her birth record. This listed her father and mother (same name for the mother), but her father's name was Michael Kupiec. She is listed as legitimate. This has me very confused. Which name should I have listed as primary?

Romanowski surname

I am searching for any information on my great grandfathers family. His name was Paul(paulo) Romanowski and according to family he had 2 brothers Jack/John, and Victor.(nobody can remember the names clearly) Paul also had a sister Alexandria. They all immigrated to america from poland just before the turn of the century through the bowery. I have been told that they did not immigrate as a family, but seperately as adults. Paul married Pelagia Jesionowska and had 6 children. Valentine, Cheste(Alexander),
Frank,Helen,Stella, Anthony. Anthony is my grandfather and was baptisied in a polish parish on long island.(born 10-04-1907)I have been told that all of Pauls children were born in america. Of his two brothers I know nothing. Paul's sister Alexandria Romanowski was born 9/1887 in poland and died 9/1951. She married Joseph Gwaizdowski (born 3-1-1894,died 8-10-1962) on 7-04-1908.
Alexandria and Joseph had 6 children. Delores, Blanche, Leon, Gertrude, Genevive, Valentina. If anybody can tell me how to go about searching for info or where to write or look it would be greatly appreciated. I do know that the family had lived at one time in or near the Hamptons in mass.

My grandfather Kazimierz Sprenglewski had a younger brother who was captured by the soviet army. We think he was taken to Siberia to one of the camps there. However we do not know his name. But we do know he escaped or prehaps released and tried to make his way home to Poland. We only have a photography, which i understand is not alot to work with. But i'm hoping someone might recongise him and be able to put a name to the face.

Hello,

I'm wondering if someone wouldn't mind translating a 1/2-3/4 page letter to museum/library in Poland/Polish. I'd rather use a real person translation for this than a machine if possible. . .I will send it along to whoever might be able to help. . .

Thanks SO MUCH for your time,

Sincerely, Pam Gosling USA

Four sons of John Trzcinski and Mary Kowalski (John, Joseph, Marion, and Frank) came to the US from Poland in 1903. From the 1916 birth certificate and 1919 US Army discharge records, they were born in Cetlin, Plocki. The naturalization papers state that they were "subjects of Russia". Does anyone know where Cetlin, Plocki is? Does anyone know which parts of Poland were under Russian control circa World War I?

Am looking for ancestors to Victor Benben, born Mar 23, 1900 in Jedlica, Poland. He immigrated to the US in about 1902. His father was Frank A Benben, no other information about him, and his mother was Louise Kowalski. Victor lived in Nebraska all his life. He died July 31, 1994. We are unable to find anyone researching this family line and would appreciate help finding information. I am wondering if the town of Jedlica is not spelled that way or is no longer there. Possibly could be Jedlicze from maps I have looked at.?

My grandfather Kazimierz Sprenglewski had a younger brother who was captured by the soviet army. We think he was taken to Siberia to one of the camps there. However we do not know his name. But we do know he escaped or prehaps released and tried to make his way home to Poland. We only have a photography, which i understand is not alot to work with. But i'm hoping someone might recongise him and be able to put a name to the face.
