Zlatica,

Yes and No. Yes my great great grandfather (Tomasz Grzelak) was likely married or widowed when he arrived - I don't recall what the manifest said. But I find no record of his wife having come to the US with him or after him. She may have passed away before he traveled, I don't know.

His son, my great grandfather (Anthony Grzelak) was NOT married when he arrived. His wife, Cecilia (Krawf) Grzelak was from Pennsylvania (or Ohio), I think. I can find no record of her prior to his Petition for Naturalization and I can find no record of her after 1940 or so. I also can find no record of their marriage - but I haven't tried snail-mailing the Allegheny County Courthouse yet for the record or Anthony Grzelak's birth record.

My 2nd cousin said she believed Cecilia went into a mental institution and that's where she stayed. The only Cecilia Grzelak I find having died in a mental institution, was in Ohio but she died as a widow - yet my great great grandfather was still living at the time she died. Plus her year of birth is 2-4 years off from the YOB of my Cecilia Krawf. So I assume they are not the same person.

My grandfather - Anthony's son and his siblings were all born here in the United States in Pittsburgh.
