Hello, I'm seeking any information regarding my ancestor, Stanley Krysiuk (also spelled Kryshuk). His naturalization documents say he was born 1886 in Suwalki now Poland, then Russia. He immigrated to the US in 1902 and lived in PA. I would love to find other researchers interested in this town or this family. Thanks so much. Joyce

My dad was one out of eight children born in the earlier part of the 1900s to Adam Wdowiak and Anna Tencza Wdowiak who came to America around that time. Their children: Walter (born 1910), Rose, Johnny, Emily, Joseph, Vera, Alfred and Eddie Wdowiak (most changed their name to "doviak"). My dad is now 80 and doesn't talk about his past much but he said he enjoyed summers in pennsylvania when he was young, visiting his cousins. Does any of these names sound familiar to anyone?

I have posted on a few boards but I am trying to find any information on a Nicolaus Elias born ca. 1833 and a Balthasar Elias born ca. 1827. I -think- these 2 gentlemen are related but cannot find anything previous to being in the U.S. I am posting here because Nicolaus claimed "Prussian Royalty" ancestry (yes, posted on the Prussia board and surname boards to no avail) and since borders shifted so much it is possible that he could have been born in what is now geographic Poland. Any help would be appreciated. Both Nic and Balty lived in Manitowoc County, Wisconsin in the 1860s and 1870s. I am posting here because I found the surname "Eliasz" and am taking a long shot. Thanks.

My great grandfather was Joseph Wdowiak born in Nart Stary in 1880. His sister was Anna Wdowiak born about 1879. She had an illigitimate son named John and came to Passaic, NJ and married a Mr. Drost. John took the last name.

Joseph Wdowiak came to the US in 1901 and was with Karol Sudol. Both stated they were going to their step-brother, August Rembisz's home in Kingston, PA. The Pyryt family is related through Sophie Rembisz/Rambis who married into the Pyryt family.

As to the Fila side, Anna Wdowiak baptized her son in Nart Stary and it looks as if the godmother was Sophie Fila. This was in 1897. There is also someone named Wojcek on the certificate but the last name is too faint to read.

Looking for the above families who may be connected by Nart Stary and/or Passaic and Wilkes-Barre. We are also related to the Fataicher family in Wilkes-Barre through one Adam Fataicher who is supposed to be a half-brother to Joseph and Anna.

Linda
MI

Pacanow or Biechow or Zborowek researchers are you out there?

Hi!

My name is michael eliasz. My grandfather(Jospeh Eliasz) was born in Pacanow and my grandmother Valeria Leszczynska was born in Biechow.
Joseph abt March 1885
Valeria abt November 1886

I have studied what microfilm the LDS have of these two parishes(and I keep them on longterm loan) and I am just begining to study Zborowek.

I am searching out other reseachers, because after a while you realize that everyone in these villages are inter-related after a handful of generations. So my hope is to find other researchers of these villages and compile a list of family names from these villages and also hopefully share info on our overlapping family trees.

Anyone out there?

--mike
von Tunzelmann Family

Hi Anna,

My husband is also a descendant of the von Tunzelmann's from Queenstown. His Great Grandmother was Constance Lilly von Tunzelmann who married William Stafford Northcoat. They lived in the Glenorchy area. There has been a family tree done by somebody who lives up north but I don't have the name of them. From what my mother-in-law has told me. Apparently Nicholas von Tunzelmann's family was in the Tzar's white army and at the time of the russian revolution he was exiled from Russia and escaped to England and then onto NZ. There is more to the story etc but just can't remember it at the moment. I do have photos somewhere here of Constance Lilly, Nicholas Paul Balthasar Tunzelmann von Alderflug (Von Tunzelmann), and Gertrude Rose Von Tunzelman
nee Gilbert d 21/4/1918. I would be interested to hear of any info you have on this family

Kind Regards

Vanessa

Mossakowski Family Tree search

My name is Margaret (Malgorzata) Mossakowska. Born in Poland in 1963. I've been creating family trees for Mossakowskis and Zgainskis (my mother's family) for the last year.

I found two versions of family name spelling: Mosakowski and Mossakowski, even for the same people (identified by first name and date of birth). I would say that the name derives from a village named Mosaki or Mosaki Stara Wies in Poland (near Krasne), where the family has probably resided, as the village name is mentioned in one of the birth records I found. Members of the family were christened in nearby Niesiobedy as registered in official church records that reach as far, as pre-1700. I do not know reasons for using different spelling (single or double "s").

After Poland was partitioned (end of XVIIIth century) and subsequent upraisings against foreign governments were unsuccessful, many Poles started to leave Poland. This could be a reason why since mid-1800s our family name has appeared in Switzerland (Urdorf-Dietikon, Zurich), US (Dupont PA, Binghampton NY) and Germany (Bremen).

My branch of Mossakowskis comes from Grudziadz area (formerly Graudenz, West Prussia).

If you could give me names, dates of birth, christening, marriage, names of siblings etc. of your parents, grandparents, great-grandparents - ANYTHING, I would try to trace family records in US and Europe and also try to find out if we are related. I believe we do, even, if our common ancestors lived three centuries ago - and I am determined to find out.

Waiting for your message!

Greetings from your Very Distant Cousin...
Margaret Mossakowska
I am looking for information on the Gnys surname. My grand father, Marion Paul Gnys, was born in Skarzysko, Poland, 1913. He may have studied at University in Krakow, fought in the airforce in WWII and then spent several years in a labour camp. He and his wife we sent as refugees to New Zealand in around 1950.Unfortunately he died 5 years later so his personal history and Polish culture were lost to our family. I understand there may a branch of the family in the United States, possibly Florida? Could any one who knows any one of this name please get in contact. I am not even sure whether it's a common or unusual surname. Thanks, Anna von Tunzelmann, Queenstown, New Zealand.

My family is from Swiniary Poland immigrating in the early 1900's. I know there is a cemetery there at the church from looking at the town webpage that shows pictures from a distance of the cemetery and looking at the town map shows the cemetery. My question is are the cemeteries in Poland reused as the ones in Germany are and if not how far back could you expect to find graves?
Buz Kuzan

I am looking for any information on the names PIETROWSKI and LEBEDZ. My great-grandmother Viktoria Pietrowski emigrated to the United States on or about the 21st of January 1908, entering New York. Viktoria was born in the town of Nowy Korczyn on the 12th of July 1893. After arriving in America she settled in Cleveland, Ohio and married my great-grandfather John Lebedz, who was also born in Poland (unknown date and unknown town). I believe Vicktoria came to America with her sister, leaving other family behind. I believe my great-grandfather knew her from Poland and sent for her when he was already in the US. Both Viktoria and John lived in Cleveland for the rest of their lives. John was young when he died of in a elevator accident, leaving Viktoria and my grandmother Jane Labedz. Another peice of information is that my mother was told that the family owned salt mines in Poland before leaving. Looking for long lost family and or any information about the names, etc.
