Hopefully the folks who have visited this little board may see my posting. I am searching for a woman who most likely had the last maiden name or married name of Fila (maybe she was a widow?). She is my great grandmother. Her entire identity is a mystery. The family story is somehow she is related to the Fila family that had the Fila Funeral Home in Clifton NJ-she could have been a sister, a daughter, a cousin... She was married to my great-grandfather Anthony Zuk/Zukow/Zukowsky, who resided for most of his life in the Clifton and Passaic area, he worked as a laborer and he also had several different businesses (a bar, a market, etc). They had two daughters, Caroline and Helen, which makes me wonder if my mystery grandmother's first name was either Helen or Caroline. Supposedly she was not really in touch at all with her Fila family, after her death, her two daughters never had any contact with them. She was pregnant with her third child, and passed away during childbirth. My great grandfather had her buried in a pauper's grave somewhere in the Passaic County, NJ area. According to what I was told, since she had a midwife attending her, and not a doctor, no death certificate was filed, and there is no headstone or record of her death. We never knew her name, or where she was buried, my grandmother Caroline was always haunted by wanting to know more about her mother. I was told that Helen was married at St. Johns in Passaic, so I wonder if that church is where all the family attended. My great-grandfather married another woman, Mary, and had a son, Emil. Does anyone know of this woman, or who she may be? Does anyone know of the Fila family that owned the funeral home? I welcome all ideas for research.

Nicholas Balthazar von Tunzelmann was my Great Great Grandfather.

My mother still has the family bible that was gifted to Nicholas in 1851. It includes handwritten notes on marriages, births and deaths. Somewhere (although I'm not sure where it is right now) I also have an extensive family tree that goes back to approximately 14th or 15th Century (I think?)

If anyone wants to email me, I'll see what I can find for them. madmoonwoman@paradise.net.nz

I'm sorry that I don't recognize the names in this family but the last name in all probability was Haberek or alternate spelling Chaberek. Many of the Habereks that immigrated here settled in Rhode Island, Connecticut or Massachussetts.

Have you tried FamilySearch or Ancestry to see if you can locate information on Wincenty Malinowski in 1910 (after their marriage) to see what year they arrived? You might be able to work backward to locate Teofila Chaberek.

Hello- I have been trying to determine the actual surname of my grandfather's (Wicenty Malinowski) first wife. His marriage record in Boston MA in 1905 states that her name was Toefila Chebenek (Father Frank, mother Gozewa), but the birth of their 3 children (Wanda, Lokadia and William) list it as Heberak. Apparently Toefila died sometime prior to 1913. William was brought up by an "aunt" in Poland and returned to the US in 1924. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

My Father has just recieved information from the International Tracing Service regarding his Mothers side of the family.
On his Grandmothers documents she has listed family & drawn a family tree. It is very hard to see but you can make out names. Wladyslawa is very unusual (not seen before) but she has written this name along with Karoline, Rosa and what looks like Elisabeth ???
Her name is Helene Kaminska she married Antoni Lachera. Her Mothers name was Marie Sadowska.
Do you have any more information about her?? Who did she marry?
Are we related??

Hi,

I'll need to check the year with my mother but I'd say 1956 sounds about right. She was five or six years old when he died of stomach cancer. He had been ill and spent most of the previous two years in and out of hospital. My grandmother (a German national)was very reluctant to speak of him afterwards so the children never knew very much about their father at all. In fact, with no father and mother with limited English who then became ill, the children spent parts of their childhood in and out of childrens' homes (kind of like an orphanage).

There are three children - a son Peter and two daughters Barbara (my mother) and Krystyna.

I am searching for information on my great grandfather, Jan Wilgucki. He is listed as coming to the US in 1913 from Bircza. His parents were Jerzy and Catherine. One sister, Amelia came to the US also and married John Lechowicz in carteret, NJ. At least 3 brothers, Jozef, Andrzej and ? stayed in Poland. He married Marja Krajnyk (Krajnik, Kraynick....) not sure where or when, but possibly in 1914-15 in the US.

Hi Anna,

My grandfather Stanley changed the spelling of our last name after he got back from fighting in the Pacific during WWII from Gnys to Ginish (fairly obviously so people would stop butchering the pronounciation of it). Most of our branch of the family is based out of Rhode Island in the states, and I believe my great grandfather Walenty Gnys was the first family memeber from our side of the family to come over from Krakow. He had married a woman named Josefine (spelling is prob wrong there) and when she passed he went back to Poland to bring back my great grandmother Kunegunda (great Polish name). I believe we changed our last name around 1945,but other than that we haven't been able to trace our roots past Walenty and Kunegunda 3 generations back (turn of the 20th century).

Stanley Zaremba moved to the Watertown,Jefferson county, NY area, raised a family (one of whom was Stanley Edward, junior), and died in Watertown in the 1980's. Stanley, junior's oldest son was Stanley III, who still lives in Watertown. He served in Desert Storm and is or was commander of the local VFW. He could probably fill in any gaps you have concerning this branch of the Zaremba family.

Ana,

sorry, I haven't looked in here for years.
You don't have right information. Real name of the village Itebej is Srpski Itebej (Serbian Itebej) and it is very old village (older then 790 years). Locals usually call it just Itebej. Novi Itebej is smaller and younger willage, and is located near to the Srpski Itebej. There are live predominantly Hungarian people. This is the reason why there are no last name Petak.
In Zrenjanin live just my mother and Zdravko (he is my distant relative, but I don't know him). The other two from your list do not share my last name.
Yes, Petak is Fridey in english. Also, Friday could mean and coins in denominations of five.

If you want to know something about us or anything else, please say.
The family name of Ratusznik and Malec have come up as well.

My grandfather’s sister, Waleria Glovniak (Glowniak) married a Ludwik Ratusznik in 1912 in Olesnica. Waleria passed back in 1986 according to Roman Catholic parish records I have been able to obtain.

Malec is mentioned on my first cousins family side.
Marianna Malec married a Marcin Jakubowsky (Jakubowski).

Does this match anything you have been able to obtain on the Malec & Ratusznik Families?

When I looked up the distribution of Chmielowski, there were few (about 5) in świętokrzyskie in the 2002 surname list, and no Rasal. That is why I mentioned that there were other Gnojno.
http://www.moikrewni.pl/mapa/kompletny/chmielowski.html
http://www.moikrewni.pl/mapa/kompletny/chmielowska.html
But then I investigated other spellings for Rasal and found Rasała, of which there are many in świętokrzyskie, particularly county Busko-Zdrój in which Gnojno is located.
http://www.moikrewni.pl/mapa/kompletny/rasa%25C5%2582a.html
I looked up the online data for Gnojno and found the marriage:
#3 1856 item 13 Maciej Chmielowski & Eleonora Rasała Gnojno parish.
http://geneteka.genealodzy.pl/index.php?rid=117&from_dat...
There were other marriages Rasała/Chmielski.
The researcher that entered the data is (click on A): Edward Jabłoński.
http://genealodzy.pl/user.php?op=userinfo&uname=Jab%b3o%...
You can email him via the site, free registration.
Use the the Genetika page above to search for other Gnojno records: U=births, M=marriages, Z=deaths. Because there are so many, set the number of records at 50 and search between a set of years.
There may be more on:
http://www.przodkowie.com/metryki/index.php?szukanie=rasa%B3...
Try also contacting the other researchers I mentioned previously.

Besides a number in present day Poland, there are a few now in present day Belarus and Ukraine.
If the Kielce one, have you looked at the LDS records?
Kopie księg metrykalnych, 1779-1884 Kościół rzymsko-katolicki.
I found that my grandparents came from this town. Please can you help me to reach the archives in this area? I have tried to send a fax and e-mail to no avail. Additionally, does anyone have the same spelling of the surname listed? All I have tried for years to locate why great grandparents and because of the spelling could not locate them. My great grandfather was matthew and my great grandmother was Eleanora rasal. Has anyone heard of either name? Thank you very much carol

Pacanow or Biechow or Zborowek researchers are you out there?

Hi!

My name is michael eliasz. My grandfather(Jospeh Eliasz) was born in Pacanow and my grandmother Valeria Leszczynska was born in Biechow.
Joseph abt March 1885
Valeria abt November 1886

I have studied what microfilm the LDS have of these two parishes(and I keep them on longterm loan) and I am just begining to study Zborowek.

I am searching out other reseachers, because after a while you realize that everyone in these villages are inter-related after a handful of generations. So my hope is to find other researchers of these villages and compile a list of family names from these villages and also hopefully share info on our overlapping family trees.

Anyone out there?

My Genealogy Blog:
http://mikeeliasz.wordpress.com/

--mike
